Dear Beloved Sisters,
May I share some deeply personal thoughts with you as I encourage myself? Do circumstances in this world seem frightening and out of control so you feel yourself giving way to despair? Do you ever feel like you are a stranger or Pilgrim here on earth and long to fly off to a better place? The longer I live the less this place resembles the relatively tame world in which I grew up, and I find myself grieving what is happening in our country and around the world.
Some days I physically long to go to be with the Lord in heaven. Dear Readers, we must gird ourselves up with the words of Christ and remember that we are only here a short time and this earth is not our home!
“But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.” ~Hebrews 11: 16
“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” ~Romans 8: 16-18 (italics mine)
Written across a wall in our home are these words, a command really:
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” ~Matthew 11: 28-30
He desires that those who are just plain weary (and who among us isn’t?) rest on Him! He has things He wants us to learn and to do in His name. And so we take His hand and follow Him! Still, I look forward to that glorious day when He calls His bride home!
“Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
~ Revelations 21:1-4
Be at peace in your heart knowing that the Day is fast approaching~
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” ~Revelation 22:12
Mother With Praying Child by Johann G.M. von Bremen( 1813-1886)
Let us consider how we may encourage and spur ourselves and one another on—and all the more as we see the Day approaching!
Because of Christ,
Thanks for reading!
