Have you ever heard of Salt Sole? This is what our naturopath and another doctor friend told us to give my husband when he had a heart arrhythmia to see if it was a simple mineral deficiency – and indeed it was! Let me tell you about Salt Sole, but first let me lay necessary groundwork.
Basic To Life
Salt is essential and basic to all life – we cannot live without it. But most people just don’t realize that there are immense differences between the pure white, refined cooking-salt you find on tables in restaurants verses natural health-promoting salt such as Himalayan pink salt and Celtic sea salt (while I call it ‘dirty salt’, Celtic salt still has the wide array of trace minerals that are what our body craves and can function with).
Man-altered table salt is stripped of minerals and bleached, not like God’s wonderful creation at all. Himalayan salt is mined from mountainous sea beds far from industrialization, so it is pure and free from modern environmental toxins. Sea salts, while still excellent, are becoming more contaminated as the oceans fill up with toxins.
Natural sea salt contains at least 80 essential minerals, whereas refined, adulterated salt (a byproduct of the chemical industry) contains only two elements, sodium (Na) and chlorine (Cl). Himalayan pink salt contains all of the minerals and trace elements found in your body and all of them are available in colloidal form – meaning they are so small your cells can readily absorb them.
These differences can have a major impact on our staying healthy.
2001 UNIVERSITY OF GRAZ, AUSTRIA STUDY OVERVIEW
For a complete summary of this medical study please refer to the book “Water & Salt – The Essence of Life.” Anecdotally, in the Austrian test, subjects who drank water with Himalayan salt sole added saw significant positive changes in respiratory, circulatory, organ, connective tissue, and nervous system functions. Patients also reported increases in quality of sleep, energy, and concentration levels.
Pink Salt Analysis
Minerals in Himalayan Pink Salt – Spectral Analysis: 82 trace minerals, electrolytes, and elements.
“Each of the ionized minerals in the sole represents the ionized minerals naturally occurring in your blood. And each mineral element carries its own unique vibration or frequency pattern of energy.”
I know the above statement is true from my classes in nursing school and believe the claims of generation of energy for the body. When salt and water collide, water is no longer water, and salt is not salt anymore. This chemical combination produces a release of energy available to your body.
Many in the scientific community (here, here, here) are now working on harnessing this release of energy when natural salt and water come together on a larger scale. The human body can benefit from it, too, with a properly prepared Sole.
Is All Salt Bad?
We’ve all been told for so many years that salt is damaging, so the thought of drinking sea salt water may seem pretty illogical, but it turns out that this concentrated solution has a large number of health-supporting uses!
Salt Sole Health Benefits Include Magnesium
One of the primary benefits is Magnesium. It is the eighth most abundant mineral on earth, and the third most abundant in sea water. More importantly, it is the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body and it is necessary in over 300 reactions within the body.
Dr. Mercola discusses the numerous health benefits:
- Sole is most effective in stabilizing irregular heartbeats.
- Sole is a strong natural antihistamine.
- Sole can dissolve and eliminate sediments which lead to stones and various forms of rheumatism like arthritis and kidney and gall bladder stones.
- Sole can balance the alkalinity/acidity [pH] of the body and work towards normalizing blood pressure. Contrary to popular belief these salts do not elevate blood pressure. Their ability to regulate fluid balance allows them to naturally stabilize blood pressure at a healthy and supportive level for the body.
- Sole is vital for clearing up congestion of the sinuses.
- Sole is essential for the prevention of muscle cramps.
- Sole can help with skin diseases by cleaning from inside out.
- Sole is vital for the clearance of the lungs of mucous plugs and sticky phlegm, particularly in asthma and cystic fibrosis.
- It is vital for sleep regulation. It is a natural hypnotic.
- It is vital to the extraction of excess acidity from the cells in the body, particularly the brain cells.
- It is vital for balancing the sugar levels in the blood; a crucial element for diabetes sufferers.
- It is vital for the generation of hydroelectric energy in your body’s cells.
- It is vital to the nerve cells for communication and information processing.
- It is vital for absorption of food particles through the intestinal tract.
- Sole is absolutely vital to making the structure of bones firm. Osteoporosis, in many ways, is a result of mineral and water shortage in the body.
- A little Sole on the tongue will help stop persistent dry coughs.
- It can help restore magnesium when you have a migraine.
A study conducted at the University of Graz in Austria found that people who drank water containing Himalayan crystal pink salt daily experienced improvement in:
- respiratory conditions
- organ functions
- connective tissues
- reported sleeping better
- having more energy
- ability to concentrate better and longer
- lost unwanted weight
- enhanced hair and nail growth
For a complete summary of this medical study please refer to the book Water & Salt – The Essence of Life.
How To Make Salt Sole
What You Will Need:
- A glass jar (mine is 4 1/2″ tall)
- A plastic lid, non-metal (like this one)
- Himalayan pink salt, Celtic, or Real Salt (see sources below)
- Filtered water (ours is filtered by our Berkey)
Sole Directions:
- Fill the jar about ¼ of the way with Himalayan pink salt, Real Salt or Celtic Salt (or a mixture)
- Add filtered water to fill the jar, leaving room at the top
- Cap jar and shake gently
- Leave on the counter overnight to let the salt fully dissolve
- In the morning, if there is still some salt on the bottom of the jar, the water has absorbed its maximum amount and it is ready for use. If not, add more salt and repeat (shake and wait overnight) until there is salt remaining at the bottom of the jar. This means that the water is fully saturated.
How To Use Sole:
Consume every morning on an empty stomach. Do not stir unless dehydrated and in need of electrolyte replacement. Take *2-3 tsp. of the Sole from the top of the Sole and add it into a glass of water. Do not use a metal utensil. A wooden or plastic spoon is preferred, but do not leave it sitting in the Sole.
*One teaspoon of Himalayan Sole (and other unrefined salt) contains approximately 412 mg. of unprocessed, natural sodium. The USDA also states that the body absolutely requires a minimum of 500 mg. of sodium per day just to live.
Note: I’m lazy sometimes and just take a pinch or 2 of pink salt right into my mouth to dissolve under my tongue or drink it down with water ^^
Never Buy Minerals Again
- You can store Sole at room temperature
- More water and salt can be added to keep up the amount in the jar
- Salt crystals will naturally form on your storage vessel, but it will keep indefinitely as salt is naturally anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, so you should never have to buy minerals again unless you run out of salt!
Best Unrefined Salts for Sole:
You can usually find Real Salt, Celtic, and Himalayan pink salt at your health food store. If you can’t, you can find it here online. Here are many options for price comparison:
- Himalayan Pink Salt, coarse grain
- Himalayan Pink Salt, fine grain
- Selina Naturally Celtic Salt
- Celtic Sea Salt, light grey
- Real Salt

Jacqueline,
I have been following your site for a few years. You are so very encouraging. I like that you do what we do, or would do if we could. I have been looking for a place to contact you privately, but can’t find it. I would like to ask you something. Thank you!
Erin
Would you use this with children? My older children deal with some of the health issues you listed. They range in age from 11-15. Thanks!
Jacqueline
Yes, Erin, I would.
Depending on their weight, you could use 1/4 tsp to 1 tsp. For a shorter, slight 11 y.o. 1/4 – 1/2 tsp. would likely be appropriate. Consistency is the key and on a empty tummy first thing in AM. We have started to keep the bottle of Sole in the BR with a glass if water to help ours remember 🙂
Praying for you and hope that helps.

What an interesting post, I’m going to have to try this! So glad you shared your post on the HomeAcre Hop, please stop by Thursday for our Thankful HomeAcre Hop! – Nancy

HI THANKS FOR BLOGGING, I’M LEARNING MORE OF NATURAL AND OR HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES , JUST STARTED SOLE WITH PINK AND NOW WITH CELTIC SEA SALT. MY HUSBAND HAS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND BAD ALLERGIES. I AM TRYING TO GET HIM IN ON IT. MEN CAN BE STUBBORN. 🙂
MARIA THX,
Jacqueline
Dear Maria,
You are a fantastic wife and helpmeet! Just sent you an email.
Holly
Can you explain why it is recommended to take this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach?
Jacqueline
Holly, I don’t know how to answer that specifically, but I will try. I believe most of the things we want to absorb fully should be taken on an empty stomach so there is full uptake. The right number of minerals and the proper percentages (the full array as God perfectly put them together) are so desired that we don’t want to miss absorbing anything. Phytates, tannins, goitrogens from unsoaked beans, nuts, grains, and processed foods will prevent absorption. They contain enzyme inhibitors and toxins. I wrote about this here: https://deeprootsathome.com/soaking-beans-and-grains-byebye-phytic-acid-and-beano/ Our usual standard American diet is such that it would influence absorption keeping us from optimal health.
Another reason to take it in the AM before food is to stimulate a BM which flushes out toxins. A good stool first thing cleans you out so your body doesn’t reabsorb the toxins from it. Yuky topic, but very helpful as we are all toxic now. I hope this helps, dear one. Many blessings to you and good health, too!

This is really interesting. I would like to try it! Thanks for sharing this at Booknificent Thursday!

I’m going to do some googling as I’ve never heard of salt sole before, tho I know I need more magnesium in my diet for high blood pressure, too. I’ve taken this for a few days, but I usually have lemon water first thing in the morning. Would it ruin the chemistry of the sole to put a few drops of fresh lemon juice it in before drinking? Thanks, I love your blog. Unfortunately I got the flu before I got your natural medicine chest, but while recuperating I put in an order to start my new collection.
Jacqueline
Janet,
I do not know the answer to the Salt sole question. I do know we use a plastic spoon and not metal… I’m sorry about your flu. I hope you are totally well soon. Praying!
carrie lea
Janet,
I don’t have a plastic jar lid on hand could I use a glass lid with rubber seal? There is a silver clasp on the outside but it wouldn’t come in contact with the water.
Carrie
Jacqueline
I am sure that would work – it wouldn’t be touching the water, right?! I actually leave mine open (without a lid) as we use it every AM and then I fill the water back up to the top about every 5th day. Some does evaporate. I keep the salt level at about an 1/2 inch, so I don’t have to replace that very often at all. Sounds like your all set 🙂
Lila
Fluoride, alouminium, chloride, cadmium, bromide, arsenic, barium, mercury and uranium are poisonous.. do not be fooled by the tale they arent poisonous in organic form.. these elements are always poisonous. You dont want mercury in your teeth, you dont want it in your salt.
Jacqueline
So are you saying Celtic sea salt is bad? Himalayan salt is bad? What then do you substitute? Thanks 🙂
Steven Stewart
I couldn’t agree with you more! Try Solé Water™…it’s not just water! Infused with Himalayan Crystal Salt in a deliciously palatable ready-to-drink formula, Solé Water Revives, Restores, Renews.

I’ve been making this since you posted about it here, and I just want to say, it’s *addictive*. I now think that water with sole in it tastes much better than even our plain purified water.
So I’m a little disappointed if there’s a limit on how much one should take a day. *laughs*
Jacqueline
Haha, Madison! How funny!
Are you feeling any healthy benefits? I have so many fewer foot and leg cramps and my skin doesn’t seem so thin 🙂
Since it is a vast array of trace minerals, it does balance and negate the negative effects of the NaCl (table salt). I’d perhaps do a test and see if 5 spoons/day causes you to go mad! 😉
Blessings~!
suzie brewer
I have psuedo gout and osteoarthritis. Trying to reduce uric acid crystals. Should I suppliment with both sole and blue ocean minerals?
Jacqueline
Suzie,
I am not a doctor, and I don’t know much at all about it other that what is on this post: http://thegoutkiller.com/what-is-gout/pseudogout/
I share it with you since it is all I have to offer other than prayer! I am asking the Lord to lead you in knowledge of this painful condition and how to treat it and get pain-free once again. Note: the last thing mentioned that triggers it (under THE CRYSTALS) is low magnesium. You might try it for a time and see how you do. It very well may help ((Hugs!)) Would you let me and my readers know if you do it?
beverly nicholson
For the woman that said she hod gout, my son had gout, and after he got it under control with some medicine, I sent him concentrated cherry juice and he took a teaspoon or so every day and he said it did a good job keeping the gout away. She could research the brands and some articles, as it is mentioned in a lot of natural healing books.
Jacqueline
Thank you Beverly! I hope she sees this! I think it is a safe and sound remedy for gout, as well! Blessings, ~J
Katina
Hi!
I’m familiar with Himilayan pink salt and have a question I can’t seem to find the answer to. Maybe you can help. I have a reverse osmosis water system in my kitchen. After much research, I’ve found that this is worst water you can drink because it’s stripped of all of its minerals and is now acidic. One article suggested adding trace minerals to alkaline the water. Can I add solè to a half gallon mason of water each morning and drink throughout the day? I know your article says first thing in the morning but drinking a gallon of water a day – I would like to be able to use the water system I have to my benefit.. Thanks!
Jacqueline
Yes, Katina,
I think that is a marvelous idea, and AM use is great but not the only way one can take it. My daughter showed me her fingernails recently and how the ridges she used to have are now a thing of the past. She said they got less and less since she started the sole. Also, you are right about the water from an RO system being acidic. Sea salt minerals are alkalinizing…
Blessings!
Melanie
YES just add a small pinch of Himalayan salt to your RO water. RO water is really the cleanest you can drink but yes it has no minerals so if not getting them thru other sources, a few sprinkles of salt does the trick without making the water taste salty.
Grace
Hi! I’m trying this for the first time and I have two questions. First, I mixed it up and accidentally put a metal jar lid on out of habit and shook up the mixture, so the salt water came in contact with metal briefly. Can I still use it, or is the whole batch good for nothing? Also, I read the comments and someone said they used reverse osmosis processed water, which is what I used. I used bottled water that said it was processed by “advanced filtration, ozone, and reverse osmosis technologies.” Do you think this will be ok to use? It was the best thing I had on hand at the time. If not, do you know how I could go about finding out? (You may have mentioned a link to a research article that I missed seeing, and if so, I apologize.) Thanks so much for posting your research and results!
Jacqueline
Hmmm. Grace, I am actually not sure. We use a plastic spoon but do not leave it in the sole. As to the cap, again, I am not sure, but I found that when I top it up after we use so much, just pouring in more water is a good way to stir it. I cannot find anything on what water to use, but use water that is as pure as possible…I also found this and would agree: “Salt is a corrosive element. It can leach particles from the metal utensils into the water and can possibly cause an issue. If you’ve only used it once, I wouldn’t worry about it. It takes time (repeated use or just sitting in it) for the salt to leach particles from a hard substance, such as metal. I would recommend not using it again, though. That’s why a glass or plastic container with a plastic lid is recommended.”
I hope that helps you, Grace.
My daughter just showed me her stronger fingernails and commented that she had less ridges and bumps in them since starting the sole about a 8 months ago! She is thrilled because the change is dramatic.
israel
Jacqueline,
What a great post. I stumbled upon your blog by way of a post on pintrest. I’ve know for a long time about the positives of celtic sea salt and Himilayan pink salt. Normal sea water has over 92 minerals in it. Celtic sea salt’s mineral count is in the high 80’s to 90’s, Himilayan pink salt has 75+ minerals in it and your standard iodiezed table salt has just a few minerals in it. I have worked with cardiologist for over 12 years and it alway amazes me how little doctors know about nutrition. Just telling someone to chage their diet and remove salt their diet just because they have high blood pressure is not going to the root cause of why they have high blood pressure. Yes consuming to much table salt will cause you to have high blood pressure but that is because of the lack of minerals in table salt. God is truly amazing. He created the oceans and he created us and our bodies are made up of mostly “sea water” – salt water. Thanks again. I will definitely be adding your blog to my daily/weekly reads. God bless.
Jacqueline
Oh, Israel, that blesses me! Our Lord is so majestic and praise-worthy! So many things he has given us for our benefit, and I love that He told us to take dominion over the earth…good stewardship and curiosity to find out His ways!
I hope to ‘see’ you here often, new friend 🙂 God’s very best to you and your family!!
Leah
I’ve read all the comments, but may have missed the answer to my question. Sorry, if so! I don’t have access to ‘filtered’ water. Would distilled water work? Or do I need to look for filtered bottled water? I don’t think I’ve ever noticed those words on a bottle. Thank you.
Jacqueline
I am sorry, Leah! I failed to really answer your question, didn’t I! :-/ I think it would be fine to use distilled for this since it is already minus the minerals. By adding the minerals back via the sea or Himalayan salt, it really would be quite fine! I don’t advise drinking distilled for your regular source of water, but for this use it is better then R/O and certainly tap water. I hope that helps, patient friend 🙂 We use a Berkey to filter all our water. It is non-electric and gravity fed and is a wonderful way to have clean water in an emergency: http://amzn.to/1K3crTh We also use a sight tube so we don’t over-fill it.
Blessings and have a wonderful summer!
Lori
Hello. I need to take thyroid medication first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I would like to start the salt sole protocol, but am unsure if I should do the salt before or after my thyroid medication. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thank you!
Jacqueline
I am not sure what to tell you, Lori, since I’m not a doctor! (Sorry! I’ve had out of town company) I take my sole fist thing, then lemon water which keep me removing toxins and opens the lymph channels. If it is before food I believe it would not matter. You might ask your doctor, though!
Jenn
What a great use!
You have a lovely blog. I have recently gotten into Himalayan Salt to replace regular salts and love this home remedy 🙂
Gerda
Thanks for sharing the sole and its benefits so appreciate. One question in the am do I dilute the sole with a glass of water or just consume the sole (teaspoon)?
Thanks,
Gerda
Jacqueline
Gerda,
You can drink a lot or a little. Our naturopath recommends 4 oz. of the sole once every 3 or 4 days. It is pretty strong that way, but you will not ever have a mineral deficiency. Of course you drink a lot of water afterward. It is a great detoxifier, too.
My son uses 4 tsp in the morning and 2 after each workout. I use 5-6 tsp. each morning in my lemon water and it has helped my fingernails to stop splitting. That took 6 months, though!
The real answer to your question is to use what works effectively for your body…it takes time to discern but you can do it by paying attention to your body’s responses. Hope that helps!
Mary Vought
If you don’t have a water filter what should you do? Also what dosage do you recommend for 4 yr and 2 yr old children? Thanks.
Jacqueline
Mary, I would just use the best water you can get. For your young children, I would look at their size and use a proportionate amount. Since it is just sea salt, I don’t think you could go wrong using a 1/2 tsp in the morning. In the summer when they are in the sun and sweating, you could give it twice a day.
I add mine to my lemon juice in the morning!
Mary Vought
Thank you!
Nicole Miranda
I just made my first batch of Sole this morning. It is much darker in color than your photograph and it is very fragrant… almost smells like sulphur. Should it be that pungent? My mother brought me Himalayan salt from her travels over there, so it is authentic salt. I have never used it until now so thought this was a great purpose as my 15 y.o. daughter has POTS, likely MCAD and possible atypical Ehler Danlos. We are in the midst of genetic work-up.
Jacqueline
Nicole, it will depend on the color of the Himalayan salt. If it is darker (in the orange tones) the color will reflect that. It should smell like, well, salt! 😀 That said, it will also smell still a bit like your water. We use our Sole every day, and it really is our daily minerals! God bless you as you search for a diagnosis. I am already praying for you and your daughter!
Nina
I have been using Sole for a few weeks. It is the first time I have noticed a cause and effect so quickly with any change I made in my health regime. I began sleeping more soundly and longer after years of a sleep problem. ALSO, the leg cramps I have been plagued with (considered something ineveitable with aging) have all but disappeared/ Only very rarely now. I also notice my moods are more even. I just feel more relaxed. It is incredible! I use 3 tsp. I have a large salt tolerance and I drink coffee, which does excrete some.
Jacqueline
Yay! My body reacted similarly though it took a full month to get the immense benefits from thorough re-mineralization!
That makes me VERY happy, Nina!
Praise God!
Jacqueline
Yay! My body responded similarly to proper re-mineralization, but it took a full month of daily use (2-3 tsp.) for me to notice a big difference. That makes me VERY happy, Nina!
Praise God! 😀
Kim
My daughter has a myriad of helth problems including Ehlers Danlos and POTS (postural orthostatic tacardia syndrome). One of the things her dr told her about her POTS is to increase her salt intake. I am going to try her on this. But I have a question. Table salt has iodine for thyroid, other salts don’t contain it. What do you suggest for thyroid support?
Elizabeth
We exclusively use pink Himalayan salt, but as a saltwater aquarist, I have some questions and see some issues with your method. You say to add a non-specific amount of water to a non-specific amount of salt, shake gently for a non-specified amount of time, leave “overnight” (I’m assuming 8 hours), and the water will absorb however much salt/minerals it can. That’s not how water + salt works. Firstly, water can dissolve so much salt that it is deadly for almost all life (see: salt flats of flamingo nest sites that only support brine shrimp) and salt water is heavier than freshwater so the lowest concentrations will be at the top of the jar, whereas the heavier brine will be sitting right above any salt left in the jar. In the saltwater hobby, we mix to a specific gravity (measurable amounts of dissolved salt) in an attempt to replicate ocean water; usually 1.024-1.026. I would very much like to know what sg (Relative Specific Gravity) a sole is/should be using a hydrometer or ideally a refractometer. As I said, the salinity at the top of the jar would be very different from the water at the bottom, hence why saltwater aquarists use pumps in their saltwater mixing tubs and tanks to keep the salt from settling. I’m a big fan of cell salts, trace minerals, Himalayan pink salt, and Epsom salts so I’d love to try a sole, but I’d like to see a bit more exact science when it comes to proper preparation and use. 🙂
Jacqueline
Hi, Elizabeth!
I ‘get’ what you are saying, but the object of sole is not to to live ‘in’ it, but to ‘consume’ the broad spectrum of minerals and trace minerals to replenish our lagging supply at the cellular level. It is not meant for eyes like contact lens solution that is isotonic, either.
I agree with mixing with a pump for fish in an aquarium. I had an aquarium for years and did what you speak of.
Sole is NOT an exact science since we cannot consume so much that it would hurt you (our bodies would make us stop taking it) (you can OD on about anything) .
Basically, if you are the type of person who reads this stuff, you are paying attention to your body. I stir my sol before taking it and take enough to stop my foot and finger cramps or charlie horses! I want to keep it simple. For a more exact science I would recommend you google sg and research what you are looking for and experiment with a pump to keep it mixed. Happy studies! ;D
Seriously, though, it is a good question and glad you asked 🙂
Sreerekha
Wow, this is great information. May I have two questions please? 1) can this be consumed by people with high BP(135/70) – will sodium affect it? 2) is this really palatable?- will it to salty to drink ? – I want to make the 7 and 3 yr old drink it too
Jacqueline
Hi, Sreerekha!
I am glad to try to answer, but you may not like my answers. First, I do not consider 135/70 to be high BP if you are generally healthy – similar to what we are being told about cholesterol. https://deeprootsathome.com/is-your-cholesterol-really-high-tearing-down-the-cholesterol-myth/
I think we are being served up as gullible patients by the pharmaceutical industry for profits’ sake.
When you get the whole range of trace minerals, none are dominant and they body can use what it needs and excrete the excess. It is those very same trace minerals that help excrete the unneeded portion. Think holistically.
#2. Yes, it tastes somewhat salty, and the body loves it bc it is filling a need that generally isn’t met… just take it in a little water and then chase it with fresh water if you feel it is objectionable.
I hope that helps!
~J

Hello Jacqueline,
Fellow RN and sister in Christ here, very VERY happy to have found your website. Interested in trying the sole. Thank you for your good work in this area.
Jacqueline
Aw, Diana, that is a blessing to me. I needed that encouragement tonight!
God bless you, new friend and sister! I hope to “see” you here often! ~Jacque
Rhonda
I appreciate your thorough explanations in your articles and learn so much from the information included. May God continue to bless and anoint your ministry to us all!

Thank you,
Rhonda
Jacqueline
Aw Rhonda, that makes my day! I love to help and teach, and I love health and science!
Thank you and God bless you! Jacque
(PS, I love both of those verses!!)
Debbie
I don’t understand why simply using Himalayan sea salt in cooking and salting your food wouldn’t provide all the same benefits. This is as long as you are consuming ample water. I drink copious amounts of water and I use Himalayan sea salt. Why wouldn’t I get the same benefits as listed for salt sole int his article? This is a sincere question. At first, I thought it must be necessary to completely dissolve the salt in water. However, in the article, you state that putting a pinch of good salt under the tongue to dissolve serves the same purpose. Please explain.
Jacqueline
Debbie, it is similar, and I do fudge on it often. There is supposed to be a larger release of energy into the water with the sole. Scientifically speaking, sole water is electrolyte dense brine. Electrolytes are essential for life and they carry a charge which ionizes when dissolved in water. When the water and salt are mixed together the negative ions of the water molecules combine with the positive ions of salt and vice versa. This way they are electrically charged and therefore, the minerals in this drink can be easily absorbed by the body.
I just felt the need to explain you can get *close* to the same results (if you were lazy) by doing it either way.
I hope that helps! ~J
Effie
Hi, just wondering if anyone has used this for a persistent cough? I’ve had cough for about 10 months and can seem to get rid of it. It’s usually brought on by drinking something cold or going outside in winter and breathing cold air.
Jacqueline
Effie, If you have had that cough for a while, I would not rely on trace minerals. If you want to go about getting to the root cause in a natural way, you will need to detox the underlying toxins. If you don’t want to go natural, you should check with your doctor.
Let me know if you want a more natural way that has addressed things like Lymes, fibromyalgia, thyroid, regressive autism, mold, seizure disorder, bedwetting and stuttering in children and other autoimmune diseases from underlying toxins and metals: https://deeprootsathome.com/heavy-metals-need-to-go-they-are-food-for-viruses-bacteria-fungi/
I do coaching with every order through my link ❤ https://inspiredhealthtrs.cosevatrs.com/

My comment after reading the whole article and reading everyone’s comments and your answers is: Thank you for all the work you put into this. All the interesting information that you offer to us and all the work it takes to monitor and answer all the questions. I find all pf your articles very interesting and informative. Thank you.
Jacqueline
Thank you, Sandy! It is a joy to do this work! I can only do it with the Lord’s grace and mercy to me. I am not that capable by myself!

Pam Knight
I love a sole and have made it and drunk it off and on over the years…. the question I have that I have never found the answer to is this… I love H salt and eat quite a lot everyday. I eat H salt on nearly everything and I cook with this salt. What is the benefit of drinking the sole since I get so much H salt already and am I maybe getting too much salt by adding to water. I am not willing to cut down on the amount I eat in order to drink it in my water. But should I drink it as well?? Pam
Jacqueline
Hi, Pam!! I would keep usi=ng is as much as you like in food and it is true that you might already be getting enough.
If your B/P and heart rate are optimum now, you don’t likely need more.
Another way to know is if you have any leg cramps. Muscle cramps could indicate a need for more magnesium.
Actually, you are like us! We eat a lot of H salt and are very fit with perfect blood work!
Blessings! J

I am so happy to have stumbled across this blog. May I ask what type of arrhythmia your partner overcame? I have been diagnosed with frequent ectopic ventricular beats. Have started the sole water and potassium broth this week as well as acupuncture and just taking some time out. I really do hope this is just a temporary thing as I’m only in my mid 30s with a 2-year-old son 🙁 They want to put me on beta-blockers 🙁

Hi, Nadine!
I am sorry to hear you are struggling with that, but I like what you are doing.
My husband had occasional atrial tach. It did seem to help, but he would forget to use it after a couple months. Besides the sole, we did another thing that we believe helped him more, and it didn’t just work for the area of tachycardia.
I will email you and share that. ~Jacque

Tamara Rubin wrote : how much lead is in my salt . Of course there are many different brands of H salt , probably also Celtic . What is your thought on Tamaras research ?
Jacqueline
Iwona, I have not had the time to read through her research. But I can tell you that I have used Himalayan pink salt for many years and have not/am not having issues… but I also detox using TRS every day, as well, so any toxins are removed.
I do coaching with every order through my link ❤ https://inspiredhealthtrs.cosevatrs.com/

Hi, question? My daughters don’t want to drink it first thing in the morning. Can I put a 1 tsp of salt sole water in eight oz of water and can they sip through out the day? Can that still get the benefits?
Jacqueline
Mari C, Yes however they get it in will be great! I hope that helps!

Hi, I was just reading on the Original Himalayan Salt page that it’s not good to use a plastic lid as the chemical from the plastic can contaminate the sole. Use glass or ceramic. Also, 1 tsp is all you need and the stones are much more recommended than the granulated salt as you can get too much salt in your tsp.
Jacqueline
Thank you for that input, LP!
I appreciate you sharing it here! ~J

I’ve been adding a dash of pink salt and lime to my water for a couple of months and just recently heard about this salt ‘sole’. How is adding sole to water different than adding a dash of salt? I googled that question and ran across your website, which, by the way has some fascinating sounding articles I will be reading.
Jacqueline
Hi, Andrea,
I think once you really read the article (and the links) you will see that fresh water meeting salt water makes for a powerhouse of energy and we can benefit from it!
Enjoy!

Hi Jacqueline,
I’ve been using your sole recipe for a few months now & it has lost alot of its saltiness. However, there is still salt on the bottom. It’s my understanding that I need to wait until the salt has fully dissolved to replenish it, right? Concerned it may not be doing anything for me now, so just doing the pinch under the tongue trick.
Thanks for the Help!
Jacqueline
Hi, Joanie,
I would dump it and start over. I am not sure why that would happen, but what you are doing with the pinch under the tongue works, too!
Sending peace,
Jacque

Thank you!

Can the Sole water be taken before bed?
Even if your stomach is not empty?
Thanks.
Jacqueline
Hi, Mary, Yes it is fine really anytime – you will still get benefits. To get best absorption QUICKLY if I have foot or toe cramps, I hold the salty water in my mouth and the minerals will absorb right into your bloodstream and quash the cramps. It is just so good for the body to give enough of the trace minerals!
Sending peace,
Jacque

Hi Jacque,
A month ago I started taking salt sole using Celtic Sea Salt and plan to use it longer before coming to any conclusions (I think it’s helping so far, but am trying to be patient to see what a few months will do for my health!).
I’ve taken it long enough that I am starting to recommend salt sole to friends and family. Today I got this update from The Healthy Home Economist and thought I’d share it here. There is various info out there and it’s helpful to read some different sources.

Hi Jacqueline,
When you say, “Never buy minerals again”, do you mean liquid trace minerals, or do you mean macro-minerals, like Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc, Chromium, etc. I’m really excited about the health benefits as well as the self-sufficiency and money-saving potential.
Jacqueline
Hi, Beth,
Yes, I am only speaking of trace minerals since Sole wouldn’t have the macro minerals in enough quantity! My husband and I are still are making/taking Sole and feel it has been very beneficial.
Blessings,
Jacque

Hi. I’m getting ready to make this right now. I drink lots of water but noticed my skin is still very dry and I don’t feel satisfied. Hoping this will help. Should I put this mixture in every glass I drink (about 90oz a day) or just my first round of water for the day? Someone mentioned in a comment using too much of it…
Jacqueline
Abby, I would just start with one or 2 spoons a day and see if there is any change. Since it is Himalayan salt, I use it liberally and have never had swelling or bloating or any B/P issues..
Just feel good and well mineralized.. Let your body tell you!
Blessings,
Jacque

Thank you. Can’t wait to start tomorrow. Also, can I use this in a stainless steel hydroflask cup? I know you mention no metal for spoons and lids.
Katie
Hi – Katie here. I once put my 1 teaspoon of sole in a regular glazed pottery mug of water and the sole tasted metallic to me. I believe the sole pulled some of the metals out of the glaze, so I spat it out and dumped the rest. Since then I have always taken it in glass only.

Thank you Katie. I’ll be sure to use only my glass bottles when using the sole.
