And finally, it’s here! I’m happily excited about the new look here on Deep Roots at Home. I saved a screen shot of the old look so I won’t forget what things looked like. That happens, you know. We even forget faces if we don’t see them often enough.
I’ve been steadily blogging not quite 5 years, and it’s about time to make some fresh, visual changes. I’m embarrassed to say I’m still not the whiz kid of SEO or HTML I’d hoped to be, but I can navigate and find my way around thanks to my daughter’s patience and willingness to learn and teach. WordPress is great and so formatting a post is definitely more intuitive now. So much for not having grown up with a computer!
I began blogging for a dumb reason. I felt like I had lost some of my mental sharpness with the effects of aging (64 in Feb.) and Lyme disease. It is reasonable to believe that – like learning piano or some new dance moves with my husband – the purposeful mental stimulation would build more neurons and synapses in my cerebral cortex. And I think it has! Nothing in life ever stays the same. We are either going forwards or backwards.
There is still a lot to be done, and you’ll see changes here at DRAH over time until we get it just right. I am so grateful for Lisa, a gifted and very kind young friend who is making this possible.
I’m thrilled over the surprising growth Deep Roots at Home has experienced in the last 2 years. Readership bounces around averaging 6-7k per day, and it’s amazing to have some gifted guest bloggers from time to time. I plan to be writing much more once the last bit of reformatting and technical work is done. Either way, the blog keeps me focused on helping others and not myself.
I feel a special connectedness with whoever comes and reads here. It is my prayer that even if this little space on the net blesses just one person a day, it will be worth all the hard work. Thank you for supporting this free resource with your encouragement in the comments, your prayers for me as I write, and by using the links herein.
