Black seed oil (from black cumin seed) was used by Queens Nefertiti and Cleopatra in their beauty regimes; the seed was discovered in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. The earliest written reference to cumin seed is made in the Book of Isaiah (Isaiah 28:25,27).
In ancient Greece, renowned physicians like Dioscorides, Galen and Hippocrates used this seed as a natural remedy for strengthening the body of patients suffering with general malaise and weakness.
Black cumin has even been described as a “miracle herb,” and its name in old Latin, “Panacea,” means “cure all.” (Source)
Perhaps now we know why it was so revered.
According to June, 2021, research published in the journal Vascular Pharmacology:
Nigella sativa, also known as black seed or black cumin seed, “strongly binds” to ACE2 receptors in the lungs, and effectively stops coronavirus (Covid-19) from causing inflammation and vascular damage.
It’s just one of a growing list of God-given natural plants that bring hope for healing and protection in this fear-laced covid era.
Interestingly, WebMD says, “There is no good evidence to support using black seed for COVID-19.” Granted, they haven’t had much time to update their website, however, I’ve learned not to trust WebMD.
Black Seed “strongly binds” to the Spike Protein
Nigellidine, is an indazole alkaloid of the black cumin seed.
They found that it “strongly binds” to the spike protein at what is known as the ‘hinge region’ of the docking site, which, hampers its binding to ACE2 receptor surfaces.
All of this is technical – but bottom line it STOPS the spike protein!
They explain that black seed can “restrict vasoturbulence” in patients, while the receptor blocking could help to stop resulting inflammation and vascular impairment, especially helpful to the elderly and the co-morbid.

Black Seed Modulates Infection & “Cytokine Storm”
In a related study that was published May, 2020, in the journal Europe PMC, researchers learned that nigellidine in the seeds possessed certain properties that may inhibit cytokine storms, in which affected immune systems over-respond and cause more damage, or even death.
Nigellidine is found in the seed coat of Nigella sativa. It’s highly bioavailable.
Where to Purchase:
You can purchase the oil here. Black seed oil can also be taken in capsule form.
Find whole seed here or here. In whole seed form, if kept room temperature, it will have long shelf life for emergency use.
Adds a bit of peppery zest to foods. Use instead of black pepper. Sprinkle on foods like soups, salads, meats, vegetables, or pasta.
Black Cumin Seeds Have at Least 20 Pharmacological Actions Supported by Science:
- strong antioxidant
- anticancer (colon cancer) (bone cancer)
- Anti-diabetic
- Bronchodilator and antiasthmatic properties
- Hepato-protective
- Renal protective

Various Ways To Use It Medicinally
Use in the following ways if you should come down with covid or are around those who are vaccinated and transmitting virus or spike proteins.
As Tea Several Times a Day When Exposure is High
(When the threat is lowered, you can use your best judgement when to stop!)
- Place one tablespoon of black cumin seeds in a tea strainer
- Pour boiling water over the seeds
- Let steep for about ten minutes and drink several times a day when exposed
Other Simple Ideas to ADD in addition to consuming tea when exposure is high.
- Black cumin seeds can be added in baking or canning
- Sprinkle black cumin seeds on roasted potatoes, sweet potatoes or scrambled eggs, into bean or lentil soups, or on roasts and meat dishes
- Add Blk seed oil to vinegrettes and healthy salad dressings

Thank you for the information! I just got an email from Healthy Traditions today to notify me of their 50% off sale for Black Cumin Seed Oil. I frequently buy their coconut oil, but haven’t tried the Black Cumin Seed Oil yet. It sounds like now is a good time to try some.

I love this!! I’ve grown love in a mist (Nigella, I think is the proper name) for years and didn’t realize until very recently that that is where black seed comes from. I’ve honestly never read or learned much about black seed, but this is fantastic!! It is super easy to grow and makes the most beautiful flower and seed head! Try planting some of the seeds you buy! Maybe it’s not too late. I planted some more as soon as I read this. We may reach first frost before they flower, but it’s worth a try! And for some odd reason I didn’t have any growing this year.
Hugs Jacque! And thanks for sharing more great options with us all! I love your work! May God bless you!! You provide such hope for all of your readers.
Jacqueline
Jennifer, you are so encouraging and kind! I will try to plant some and see what happens! Thanks for giving me a prompt to do it!
Sending peace (and taking your flower remedies daily!) I love them, and they work!

HI Jennifer,
Just an FYI – Black seed is Nigella sativa and Love-in-a-Mist is Nigella damascena. They are related, but are two different plants. I do not know if the Love-in-a-Mist seeds have the same medicinal properties as Nigella sativa, so would be sure to get the correct one.
Katie
Jacqueline
Katie and Jennifer (if you see this),
I found this:
“Nigella or “black,” refers to the color of the seeds. Damascena refers to Damascus, Syria, one of the places where this herb is at home. The plant is sometimes called wild fennel because of its fennel-like leaves, although fennel belongs to the carrot family (Umbelliferae) and love-in-a-mist to the buttercup family.
The seeds taste somewhat spicy (some people note a resemblance to nutmeg) and have been used as a condiment and in confectionery, to flavor wines and snuff, and as an expectorant. They are far less flavorful than those of N. sativa, known as black cumin or fennel flower, which has had a greater culinary and medicinal role than N. damascena. Love-in-a-mist is most valued as a beautiful, lacy ornamental in the garden and a colorful component of fresh and dried arrangements.
Love-in-a-mist (N. damascena) are NOT the same medicinally, or they would also be touted as a binder for spike protein as is the black cumin seed (N. sativa). For that, be sure to get N. sativa.
I love that you are both interested. There is SO much to learn!
Love,
~Jacque
Jennifer
Thanks Katie & Jackie!
I planted both kinds this year, but the N. sativa never came up. I think maybe my chickens got them!!
Strictly medicinal sells both kinds if you’re interested in growing. We still ate the seeds from love in a mist. The kids think they taste like grape flavor!!

Hi Jacque – Grateful for this information and everything else you put out there. 🙏🏻 My 5 yo son showed symptoms Friday upon being exposed to a classmate that tested positive. He has since tested positive but thankfully already back in action today!! I started showing symptoms yesterday. Since Friday, my husband and I have been on a daily regimen of 3,000 mg of mega-liposomal vitamin c 1-3x/day, 5,000 IU 1-2x/day, zinc 50 mg/day, NAC 500 mg 1-2x/day, elderberry tonic 15 mg/day, and thanks to this post, black seed oil capsules 2 1 g/day. Whew. But praying it is working. My husband is especially susceptible to respiratory illnesses due to smoking and allergies. (I KNOW!! 🤦🏼♀️) My question to you is – if you are so inclined to answer – should we increase anything of the above upon symptoms or should we be taking anything additional? We may be able to get in with a local doctor to get ivermectin if my husband starts showing symptoms. Maybe I should to? I have a 100.4 fever, a cough and body aches. Feel free to respond privately if you are able to at all. As you are aware, Google has suppressed any and all supplement recommendations for C. Scary world. God is working it all for the good.
Blessing to you,
Stephanie

I will email you after dinner! Hang in there! ~J

Hi Jacque,
Happy Holidays! My husband, myself, & 7 yo daughter were exposed to Covid on Christmas Eve & showing symptoms. We are taking 2,000mg vitamin c daily and daughter is taking 125mg as well as all taking Zinc & Vitamin D. Along with ginger teas and chicken soups. I am purchasing Amazing Herbs black seed oil that contains 5XTQ™ Black Cumin (seed) Oil 5 g and Thymoquinone (TQ)(Naturally Occurring) 48 mg. The bottle at GNC says the dose is 1 teaspoon. Can my daughter (48 pounds) take it as well? And is there anything else you would recommend for us? She is taking elderberry and I may purchase that for me and husband also. I appreciate your help!! Blessings <3
Jacqueline
Hi, Nicole,
Yes, there are a number of things you can use for your daughter safely!
This post contains them and the dosages: https://deeprootsathome.com/child-teen-dosages-9-key-nutrients-to-prime-their-immune-systems/
Also, I have a full protocol for covid and for transmission from the vaccine which sheds “transmits” the spike protein.
You can get that in your inbox by going through this link: https://deeprootsathome.com/trs/
Lastly, please read this if you can get your hands on a nebulizer: https://deeprootsathome.com/nebulizing-saline-or-hydrogen-peroxide-for-lung-ailments-rsv/
(in an emergency, you can simply use brown bottle hydrogen peroxide!!)
I am praying for you!

Thank you for this information. I recently saw it on a website to be used for fighting the virus…but wasn’t sure how to go about it. As far as WebMD….I’m with you. Now when I’m searching for information I see “Web MD”…..scroll scroll scroll. WHat a joke they are! 🙁
Jacqueline
Happy New Year, Norma! Yeah, we will scroll on by when we see WebMD! Haha
Happy New Year, friend!
Love to you and sending peace,

Druvi
Hi Jaqueline,Thanks for this post. A Blessed New Year to you and your family. Since Black Seed is effective against the spike protein of the virus it should be effective against vaccine shedding where spike proteins are shedded. Am I right? I have been taking Black Seed Oil 1 to 2 teaspoons daily for few weeks now. Will the oil give the same effect as Black Seeds drinking as a tea? Btw have you done any changes to the Vaccine shedding protocol since I last got it I guess in August. Look forward to hearing from you.
Jacqueline
Hi, Druvi,
Yes, black seed is effctive for vaccine-shed spike proteins as well as the spike protein of the virus.
I am not an expert on the specifics of black seed but I beleive either way you take black seed, it will work. I am in favor of alternating these natural methods and the sources of the products we use… different soil, growing seasons, etc. can affect things, so change it up with different sources and ways of consuming it for the best possible outcome.
Yes, I have see huge benefits from a particular tested fulvic acid I am working with (and good outcomes in patients):
“Testing showed Advanced Fulvic stimulated 791 genes and down-regulated 550 genes – up-regulating the cells’ free-radical scavenging, cell division, DNA replication and DNA repair while suppressing pro-inflammatory responses.” (see pg 2 of this PDF: https://www.coseva.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Advanced-Fulvic-One-Sheet.pdf )
This is huge, esp DNA repair after covid and the vaccine both of which harm DNA!
Fulvic acids enter into all life processes and wear many hats. When necessary; they act as “free radical” scavengers, supply vital electrolytes, enhance and transport nutrients, make water wetter, catalyze enzyme reactions, increase assimilation, stimulate metabolism, chelate and make available essential major and trace elements, and demonstrate amazing capacity for electrochemical balance.
(That means it’s anti-aging, and provides better hydration, faster oxygenation, mitochondrial support, and nervous system healing).
>>>Radioactive substances react (fall apart) rapidly with fulvic acid, and only a brief time is required for equilibrium to be reached. (See the sciencific pdf in attachments)
Advanced fulvic acid detoxes neutral- and negative-charged toxins and metals … while TRS always detoxes positively charged toxins and metals.
Together, they detox the wide range of all toxins (as well as graphene oxide in the body from the vaccine and other sources like masks, nasal swabs., etc.
My post goes more in depth on Advance Fulvic: https://deeprootsathome.com/fulvic-acid-chelating-support-for-maximum-brain-skin-gut-health/

Hi Jacqueline, Thank you for your reply and the details about Black Seed Oil.It’s great to hear it’s effective against spike protein. You are right about alternating different forms of the same product. I will try the black seeds as well in addition to the black seed oil.
Good to hear about the fulvic acid. I haven’t heard much about Fulvic acid. Thanks for sharing details about it. I will go into detail on that.Looks like it’s a great product as these products will become essential in time to come as majority of the people have taken the mrna vaccines.
Jaqueline have you heard about Nano Soma. I heard it’s promising. Would love to get your thoughts on that.
Thanks for all the great information.May GOD Bless you and your family.
Kind Regards,
Druvi
