Have you ever heard of Salt Sole? This is what our naturopath and another doctor friend told us to give my husband when he had a heart arrhythmia to see if it was a simple mineral deficiency – and indeed it was! Let me tell you about Salt Sole, but first let me lay necessary groundwork….
What’s the very best way to preserve fresh herbs? It’s taken me a long while to find out! Been growing herbs such as parsley, basil, chives, tarragon, cilantro, garlic, and dill in my garden since before we were married, but I’ve had to fail many times in order to learn how to preserve those marvelous fresh flavors before the chills and bluster of winter could damage their tender leaves.
Freezing makes them unrecognizable with no texture; drying takes away much of their flavor, and putting them into ice cubes with water? What an unappetizing mess!
What Is the Secret?
I have been exploring which brand stevia to purchase. But quite honestly, I’ve never felt good about the perfectly white, flowable, processed stevia products out there.
When I was on a stock-your-pantry preparedness effort several (over 5) years ago, I bought 4 Trader Joe’s Pure Stevias. I remember thinking at the time that they were really expensive, but, hey, if things got bad and we couldn’t get things at the store, at least we had our sweetener!
What I found was that I really, really liked using it! Slowly, over time, I kept thinking about having more and MORE, and if I didn’t get to have it, I craved (felt addicted to) the stuff.
I looked for things to eat to add it to even though I wasn’t hungry! Yikes!
But here’s where the sleuth in me gets going: Our daughter started having mild migraines about this same time, and I experienced what I called ‘vertigo’, but I didn’t make the connection… and maybe there isn’t a connection.
Let me show you how to make your own coconut milk that is economical, easy, and delicious!
Coconut oil is one of the few foods that can be classified as a nutritional superfood. Using either economical coconut cream concentrate or coconut cream and water, it’s sooo easy to make coconut milk. You won’t even need a blender!
We’ve had ants. Lots of ants! You know…those industrious little 6-legged annoyances that come seeking crumbs. At different times, we’ve had 3 kinds: tiny brown ants, medium-sized, brownish-red ones and bigger black ants that came in from under the base board. Droves of them all in a few hours, and we had to do a little dance to avoid stepping on them. Eek!
Making your own vanilla sugar could not be easier.
You can substitute vanilla sugar for granulated sugar in any recipe. It is also wonderful added to coffee or sprinkled on baked goods. This makes a great hostess gift, party favor and is a terrific addition to any gift basket.
