I continue to see a decline in kids’ social, emotional, and academic functioning, as well as a sharp increase in learning disabilities and other diagnoses.
There are three societal changes (and probably more) within families leading to this crisis.
First, children today are too “underemployed” in the family structure. It goes way beyond not having the occasional summer job for a teen in high school.
Secondly, where, how and how much kids are allowed to play has changed.
And we have stopped stressing our children. Sound too tough?
