Painted Stones: Paper Weights & Other Such Creations

Flat stones, chunky stones, all different colored stones! The fun began looking for just the right stones while on vacation and out in our field. Our favorite stone markers fit right into the palm of your hand. Lake Michigan has wonderful stones, smooth and flattened, but you might find the right stone, or even a pebble, anywhere.

The truth is, I am not as creative as I’d like to be, and I hunted down some really cool stone marker designs to get me started! Do you need help, too?

From fanciful pets, your whimsical family members, natural paper weights, to garden markers for your herbs, come get creative!

Fun in the Making!

If you have a friend who is planting her own herb garden, these would be a beautiful gift, or keep them and dress up your own herbal potager. You might consider signing the back side to make them personalized works-of-art!

I used a permanent white (Painters brand) marker and gold and silver Sharpies. It is more like writing than painting for these rock markers, so little talent is needed!

I finished them off with a polyurethane coat so they will be able to take the some weather. I have no idea if they will fade, but I plan to take them into the garden shed each fall.
