Media and marketing profoundly influences what we believe about ourselves. A great example is the (1 min.) video clip Dove – Evolution.
Many of us have been sold the lie that not only will Botox stop us from getting wrinkles, but that it is safe, effective, and the key to eternal youth. New evidence suggests that not only will Botox NOT make us look younger for longer, but that it will actually make us age FASTER internally so the temporary effects are unsustainable.
Additionally, there are numerous lawsuits for Botox or Dysport Birth Defects, burned skin and botched Botox, and there are many clinics using fake Botox.
And, it’s time we stop ‘greenwashing’ Botox (botulinum toxin), and call it what it is: a lethal neurotoxin.
What follows may help in some small way give you an edge to see through the hype.
Iatrogenic Botulism is botulism that occurs after botulinum toxin injections, including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Daxxify, Jeuveau, and Letybo (U.S. products).
Iatrogenic means, “Injury induced unintentionally by a physician or surgeon or by medical treatment.” (source)
Botulism is nervous system disruption that occurs when botulinum toxin spreads away from the injection site into the peripheral nervous system (PNS) and/or central nervous system (CNS). The toxin can spread via unintentional injection into a blood vessel, through diffusion to adjacent muscle tissue, or via a process called retrograde axonal transport. Botulism can occur in mild, moderate, or severe forms.
The cosmetic surgery industry needs to be EXPOSED for what it really is.

Megan McCue, author of IatrogenicBotulism.com, goes even deepr in The Dark Side of Beauty – the first American documentary to expose the horrific and debilitating adverse effects of botulinum toxin injections. It is told through the voices of four women who lived through the damage to their lives. Megan herself has also suffered through iatrogenic botulism and understands how life-altering, harrowing, and debilitating it can be. It is her goal to increase awareness: she brings us over 30 Botox Injury Stories in podcast form.
Heidi’s story stood out to me because Heidi actually owns an aesthetics academy where Botox was a part of her normal life. She struggled with bleeding right away, confusion, body shaking, severe muscle (large and fine motor) and nervous system dysfunction, serious memory problems, de-personalization, and later agoraphobia. Fortunately, she knew the symptoms and it may have saved her life.
At 18:00, she discusses that there is human plasma in Botox and that it could be the etiology of some of the rampant Lyme disease we are seeing. I didn’t know this could happen. How many others don’t either.
6 Main Areas Of Disruption After Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Injection:
1. Muscle Spasms, Tremors, and Twitches in Botulism
Botulinum toxin is famous for blocking nerve signals and causing weakness and paralysis. (Learn more here)
At first glance it seems completely backwards. If the toxin causes paralysis… why am I twitching, jerking, or having spastic movements? The short answer is this: the nervous system hates losing signals. When communication between nerves and muscles is disrupted, the nervous system immediately starts trying to compensate.
2. Cognitive, Swallowing & Speech Problems After Botox
3. Botulism Affects Hormones!!!!!!
Hormones are also controlled by the nervous system. The symptoms are much less obvious, so few women tie hormonal disruption to botulinum toxin as a symptom. When nerve signaling is disrupted, the communication system that controls our hormonal glands is off. (Learn more here)
After botulism, the nervous system may feel very unsafe. When the brain senses danger, it releases stress hormones. Because botulism disrupts internal feedback, the brain may:
- Think something is wrong even when you’re resting
- Release stress hormones at the wrong times
- Have trouble turning the stress response off
This can feel like:
- Anxiety that comes out of nowhere
- Racing heart
- Internal shaking
- Feeling “wired but exhausted”
6.The autonomic nervous system loses balance
Your autonomic nervous system runs things automatically:
- Heart rate
- Blood pressure
- Digestion
- Temperature
- Hormone signaling
Botulinum toxin begins blocking proper functioning within the parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) system.
When that happens:
- The body stays in a fight-or-flight state
- Hormone rhythms become uneven – even though your hormone test values can look normal (You can learn more direction to overcome hormonal dysregulation here)
- Sleep, appetite, and temperature regulation are impaired
People often notice:
- Blood sugar swings
- Heat or cold intolerance
- Poor sleep
- Feeling worse at night or early morning
This is neurologic, not psychological (not in your head).
You can find a growing list of hospitals and physicians that are familiar with the signs/symptoms of iatrogenic botulism (IB) and have treated IB patients here.
This page Iatrogenic Botulism Research includes Selected Iatrogenic Botulism Case Studies and topics like frontal alopecia (hairloss).
We need a total cultural reset when it comes to beauty.
