Walked into the grocery store, and there they were. They were offering the Fluzone quadrivalent 2020-2021. As an aside, they did warn that it was not a wise choice if I had certain conditions. It was quite a list. Here is how they broke it down:
Before taking this medicine:
You may not be able to receive this vaccine if you are allergic to eggs, or if you have:
• a history of severe allergic reaction to a flu vaccine; or
• a history of Guillain-Barre syndrome (within 6 weeks after receiving a flu vaccine).
Tell your doctor if you have ever had:
• bleeding problems;
• a neurologic disorder or disease affecting the brain (or if this was a reaction to a previous vaccine);
• a weak immune system caused by disease, using certain medicines or receiving cancer treatments; or
• an allergy to latex
• an allergy to eggs
You can still receive a vaccine if you have a minor cold. If you have a severe illness with a fever or any type of infection, wait until you get better before receiving this vaccine.
This savvy parent, Shanna Rathbone, shared a really good lineup of 7 reasons why their family ALWAYS gets the flu shot:
It is illuminating, and we can learn a lot!
Numerous Benefits of the Flu Shot
1.) I want to increase our risk of upper respiratory infection by 4.4x (2nd source)
2.) I want my children to have a 3x risk of hospitalization for flu after getting it cause that means it’s strengthening their immune systems, right? Summary: The inactivated flu vaccine does not appear to be effective in preventing influenza-related hospitalizations in children, especially ones with asthma.
3.) I want to play a guessing game – will this year’s choice of strain be well matched to the strain that turns out to be heaviest in circulation, making that vaccine effective?
4.) I want to contribute to the mutation of flu viruses, making them stronger and more virulent. (CDC admits they are only approximately 37% effective due to rapid mutations)
5.) I want to stimulate the economy and contribute to the highly profitable $1.6 Billion business of flu shots.
6.) If I was preggers, I would have a 7.7x risk of miscarriage if I got the flu shot last year.
7.) I want us to potentially cash in on the billions of dollars of claims paid out by the vaccine court for flu shot damages.
Bonus #8.) I want to increase our risk of getting Covid-19 by a whopping 36%!! I mean we’re all going to get it eventually right? Why not speed the process up?!
And bonus #9.) I think I’m deficient in formaldehyde, MSG, dog kidney cells, egg protein, pig gelatin, polysorbate 80 and mercury (aka thimerosal), squalene ( the same ingredient in anthrax vax that causes autoimmune diseases) and some other virus DNA, depending on the brand!
