The Sexual Behavior of Women, Barometer of Cultural Success

The Sexual Behavior of Women, Barometer of Cultural Success

[I’m sharing this guest post by Lori Alexander and realize it may anger some and challenge many, as it has challenged me. I am a 70 year-old woman, a former anti-establishment, bra-burning, promiscuous feminist of the 60s and 70s. Before Christ, I was ruining my life and, without a care, harming the lives of others in the process.  I feel this conversation is key as we witness the devastation of the family today. Please read to the end.]

President John Adams wrote this in 1778:

“From all that I have read of history and government of human life and matters, I have drawn this conclusion, that the manners of women were the most infallible barometer to ascertain the degree of morality and virtue in a nation. All that I have since read and all the observations I have made in different nations have confirmed me in this opinion.

“The manners of women are the surest criterion by which to determine whether a Republican Government is practicable in a nation or not. The Jews, the Greeks, the Romans, the Swiss, the Dutch, all lost their public spirit, their Republican principles and habits and their Republican forms of government when they lost the modesty and domestic virtues of their women.” (source)

In the book “Sex and Culture” written in 1914, Dr. J.D. Unwin wrote, “The sexual behavior of women before marriage is the decisive factor in cultural success. Men are mainly motivated by sex. If they can get it without marriage, they contribute less to society.”

@KnowlandKnows on Twitter summarized his book:

“Pre-nuptial chastity coupled with absolute monogamy energizes cultures most. Cultures that sustained this for three generations exceeded all other cultures in every area. Only the world’s greatest empires managed it:

– The Athenians
– The Romans
– The British

“Embracing total sexual freedom produces an ‘inert’ culture. People focus only on their own wants and needs. Such cultures are conquered by others with greater social energy.”

There are MANY reasons why God commands the aged women to teach the young women to be chaste and keepers at home. It not only protects them, but it sustains a healthy culture. When women emotionally and physically leave their homes for the workforce, there is no reason why men need to be sexually pure and work hard to be providers. Their entire incentive is gone.

Sex is a driving force in men for good or evil. When they desire sex and have found a good woman, they will marry and work hard to provide for their families. This is why the first seven chapters of Proverbs warns young men of the “strange woman,” the promiscuous woman, who lurks around waiting to destroy them. Men’s sex drive was given to them to marry, produce children, work hard, and defend their families and nations, not to look at porn, fornicate, and be lazy. When women leave their station in life, men follow.

Teach your daughters to be sexually pure and desire to be keepers at home caring for their husbands, children, and home. Teach your sons to be sexually pure and not fall for the seductress but work hard and prepare himself to provide for a family. Be diligent in teaching and training your children these things, women. If you don’t, culture will teach them how to destroy themselves.

A woman who guards her virtue civilizes her world. There is a reason why Proverbs 31 is the epilogue of a book on wisdom that has stood the test of time.

Lori Alexander, authorUSA Today featured Lori Alexander in an article called “Meet the Transformed Wife, whose ‘working mom’ chart rocked the world.” She has been married to Ken since 1980. They have four grown and married children who all walk in truth and have been blessed with nine grandchildren so far. She writes The Transformed Wife. A sign of the times: people either love her or really dislike her.

As an older woman, I (Jacqueline), believe we have been sold a bunch of lies. I bought into those lies for many years, and it almost ruined me physically and emotionally. Nationally, we have seen the devastation of the lies and the fruit that has come from it—and sadly we influence the world with it. Thank God we can be forgiven! I pray this message will cause us all to search our souls (even many years later) that we may have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10)

“Let not your heart turn aside to her ways; do not stray into her paths, for many a victim has she laid low, and all her slain area mighty throng. Her house is the way to Sheol (a place of darkness), going down to the chambers of death.“
~Proverbs 7:25-27 ESV

“Righteousness exalts a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people.” ~Proverbs 14:34

Hi! I’m Jacqueline!

Thanks for being part of this journey with me.
Welcome to my own little place on the internet! Home is where I love to be. I feel there is no greater place to incubate souls. These days you’ll find me using my experiences here to write about herbal remedies and natural health research — a big passion of mine. But being a wife and mother is not easy. It is challenging and potentially lonely. I get that. I wanted to create a place to connect with and support other moms for creating a natural, healthy, and fulfilling home life.

Absolutely!! We have been sold a horrible bill of goods by the world. But God can redeem us if we want to turn away from all that! Before I got saved, I bought into the worldly way of friends with benefits, one night stands, etc. I’m ashamed of it. But Jesus saved me and set me free of that past. I do have a constant reminder of the past, in a soon to be 21 year old son…but God used him to bring me to Him. It’s been 20 years in July when I got saved, been married for 15 years this June. God can use anything to His good will.

I can’t thank you enough for posts like this, Jacqueline. I Thank God that we have a pastor who preaches the same truth about gender roles as taught in Scripture, but he is one of two preachers I can think of who I have heard preach these truths in my 40 years of life. I know there are more out there. Most conservative Christians pay lip service to these doctrines, but Mom goes to work anyway. The neglect by the Church to teach basic truths from the Bible (such as the roles of men and women, husbands and wives, godly parenting, etc.) has, in my opinion, been one of the biggest reasons for our cultural failure.

(The other major one, in my opinion, is the reliance on debt, which relates to Mom going to work because “we’ve got to pay those bills!” Debt is another topic the church has also ignored. We just read The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. The Bible talks so much about money and this book translates those teachings into doable baby steps and why we should steward our money well.)

Thanks again. Keep up the good work!
