[Today a dear friend is doing a review and GIVEAWAY (see below) for two Generations Curriculum packages: the Kindergarten package (a $100 value) and the complete First Grade package (a $367 value), one winner each package. These are an excellent offer, and I heartily recommend this curriculum.]
When we started officially home-educating this past fall with our 5-year old, I stressed about which curriculum to use and what would be just right for learning styles.
Finding a new routine and sticking to it is a bit hard for me since I have so much I want to do and so little time, with a baby on my hip and a 3 year old wanting to join in with everything. But, one thing I always do daily is sit down and read good books with my little ones since we know that this time of reading is so formative to their development. (And my husband encourages me that at our kids ages, this is more important than being stressed if I skip one day’s lesson.)
The real reason why I want to educate my children is so that they can be better disciples of Jesus. We learn with an end goal of serving and trusting Jesus better. So why not pair learning academics and learning about the Lord? What a wonderful use of our time! Academics should go hand in hand with the discipleship of our children that we are so eager to do.
That’s why I want to tell you about a curriculum that I’m using for my children. It’s called Generations, and it has a heavy emphasis on easy-to-use consumable workbooks and read-aloud books that focus on what God is doing in and through people throughout all of history.
The Kindergarten level history reader, “My First History” has both my 3 and 5 year old captivated with true stories of little children their own ages who learned powerful lessons in trusting God and telling others about him from the time of Moses to now, and the stories take place in 26 different countries. My children are not only learning history and geography, but they are also understanding what history is truly about. It’s “His Story”- the best story ever told. And they get to be a part of it. With Generations curriculum, we are teaching academics using the most important of books- the Bible, in a way that delights the child. (See a sample of “My First History”)
Another home-educating parent had this to say about Generations Curriculum packages: “After listening to a couple webinars I was convinced I needed to give Generations a try. A curriculum focused on helping parents disciple their children and textbooks (that are more like living books) written from a biblical worldview that exalt God on every page sounded too good to pass up. I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to find many (if any) books that could compare with what Generations was offering…history that inspires kids to boldly stand firm in their faith, phonics that encourages children to read so that they can understand God’s word, works of literature that teach character and faith, math that explores God’s patterns, and science that proclaims God’s goodness and wisdom! I ordered the entire curriculum pack and have NO REGRETS! In fact, it has exceeded my expectations and I am continually praising and recommending Generations to other homeschool families. We are now using the 2nd Grade curriculum and have purchased many resources for future years as well. We are very thankful for this fantastic curriculum!”
Generations sells a whole lot more than just curriculum, too! Some of our favorite story books are children’s picture books and read-aloud books which you can find on their website. The Building on the Rock series by Joel Beeke and Diana Kleyn, glowing picture books from R.C. Sproul, and countless missionary stories have been some of our top favorites and have sparked deep discussions with both our two older children.
Generations is running their best sale of the year. These are deals you will want to grab TODAY!! Starting NOW, you’ll be able to buy so many wonderful books for both adults and children, audiobooks, and curriculum for 20-50% off. And all curriculum bundles are 50% off through the 6th!
(Honest opinion- I find the “My First Letters and Sounds” to be a bit less advanced for my 5 year old, who is already reading three-letter words. I see this as a really thorough Pre-K phonics book. . If your child is still learning letters, sounds, and blended sounds, this would be a perfect, gentle start to your home education adventure. However, if your child knows letters, sounds, and blending, I’d skip to the 1st Grade “Phonics Volume I and II“.)

Hi, I’m a 7th grader. I enjoy Generations Curriculum because they always bring every topic back to God. They have taught me how to think critically. Their history courses are very interesting, and I enjoy learning world history through the eyes of conquering the world for Jesus! Their science has a great format and is helpful for remembering information. And their science experiments actually work!! The schedule is formatted for you and is set up so you can input the date and grade of each lesson. Their workbooks are very interesting. I choose Generations because they have the right worldview!

This is the best history curriculum we have found in our 20+ years of home education. We have completed the Jr High history and are now loving the High School instruction. It is the only history I recommend now, as it goes in depth of what history truly is- God’s story of redemption for a people that rejected Him. I just wish it had been available when our 1st children were at home.

Andrea, that’s excellent to hear and it sure validates what our homeschooled adult kids have seen so far as they’ve looked into different curriculum! I am thrilled they will all be homeschooling. It’s only the mercy of God!
Thank you and have a blessed Christmas in your family! We serve an awesome God!
Love,
Jacque
