In nursing school in the early 70s, I learned about the effectiveness of a simple procedure called a fomentation.
It’s one example of a tried-and-true home remedy without drugs that has largely been lost through time. Loss of this knowledge has taken healing instincts out of our hands and increasingly profited a corrupt medical system.
With so many people struggling and wanting home treatment (trying to avoid the hospital), this home remedy that has proven time and time again to work for pneumonia, allergic bronchitis, spider bites, etc.
In the December 13, 1918, issue of the Hutchinson Leader, the editor reported on the Norwegian-Danish Seminary in Hutchinson, Minnesota. 120 students and faculty all lived under one roof – 90 came down with the Spanish flu.
Statistically, between 9 to 18 of them should have died. The newspaper account reported on the fact that not one person died.
This was very unusual. Why did no one die?
Not one of the 90 Spanish Flu patients died because they were each given fomentation treatments.
These treatments stimulate the immune system, activating spontaneous blastogenesis of the plasma cells—the B cells of the lymphatic system which are designed to make antibodies.
It is targeted natural chemotherapy that the body does all on its own. Each patient was treated with the protocol that is outlined in this document.
Here Kimberly Stelzer from Azure Standard shares this wonderful, effective home remedy their family has affectionately dubbed “Hot & Cold.”
It is effective for adults and children.
9 minutes. (Refresh this article if the video is slow to appear).
What you will need:
• 1 covered pot of hot water on simmer
• bowl or dishpan
• a bag of ice or prefrozen flexible ice packs
• 1 piece of wool (or wool sweater) to wrap your hot towel fomentation in
• 1 hand towels (1 for hot and 1 for cold)
• 2 bath towels
• 1 pair of rubber gloves to wring out hot towels
• a timer
• 1 blanket
This treatment calls for 7 rounds of: 3 minutes of hot and 1 minute of cold alternating. It takes around a 1/2 hour and should have not delay between the hot and cold for the most effective treatment. She uses a stop watch.
Agatha M. Thrash, M.D. wrote, “Use the fomentations for pneumonia, bronchitis, coughs, arthritis, colitis, peptic ulcer, systemic diseases such as lupus, infectious mononucleosis, or influenza. It should not be used in tuberculosis or heart attacks.”
Dr. Thrash lists 4 ways to heat your towels: There are the boiling water, steam, microwave and oven method. (Her favorite method is the STEAM METHOD).
These effective old remedies that have been obscured or tossed aside can be taught to your older children!
I hope this equips you further so you can avoid going to the ER or the hospital!
“Various methods may be used for the application of heat to the body surface, but of all methods there is perhaps no more effective or simpler method than the use of cloths wrung out of boiling water and alternated with cold cloth. This is known as a fomentation.” ~1945 edition Physical Therapy in Nursing Care, p. 74.
“Of all the home remedies, a good wife is best.” ~Kin Hubbard

Jacqueline- I am in tears with joy right now, thanks to this timely posting. I have dealt with pnemonia many times and it seemed to have weakend my lungs over the years. I still have times (like this past weekend) where I can feel my lungs struggle and symptoms such as overall weakness, coughing up yellow mucus from deep within the lungs, chills continue to plague me with no relief. I am scared to go to a doctor at this point and always try to work through my illnesses/issues naturally at home. I was praying this morning for guidance on what route should I take. Find a natural doctor (which is difficult because I live In a very rural area) or try to go to a regular MD who would probably want to do xrays, antibiotics and steroids- which are all against my views on how to treat ailments. So I am going to try this method and I just wanted to thank you immensely for posting it at just the time I need it. It is truly a answer to prayers. Blessings to Big-time ME
Ps- I also nebulizer with HP and take immune boosting vitamins and suppliments. Is there anything else you can suggest when dealing with pneumonia and trying to get the ‘sputum ‘ that resides deep in the chest, expelled out? Thank you again!
Jacqueline
Hi, MS,
Yes, I also recommend using mullein tincture or mullein herb as a hot tea. Following this treatment you will find that your ;lungs release a huge amount of nastiness and likely a resolution of an acute case. Obviously, some may need a few repeats of the treatment. Maybe once a day?? Ot twice if you are able? You will know as you listen to your body.
I am praying for you now and am feeling thankful for these proven remedies that we can rely on.
Sending peace,
Jacque
MS
Thank you so much J- As always, you are so wise and helpful to those of us who are still learning about Home Remedies.. I am searching online for a Mullein Tintcure I can purchase. Do you know of any (maybe thru Amazon) that you would recommend? Also, from one of your past articles I am a firm believer in the use or Oreganol . Would Oreganol be helpful for Pneumonia? Thank you again! MS
Jacqueline
I am so sorry, I forgot to add the link to the post on mullein: https://deeprootsathome.com/preparedness-herb-mullein/
And I would probably start with mullein tea from the dried leaf 2-3 times a day (rather than tincture) for a week:
https://amzn.to/3p5430y
or https://amzn.to/3p6kXvE either one. make it really warm and it will loosen up even more.
Have you tried nebulizing with Glutathione for your lungs? https://deeprootsathome.com/nebulizing-glutathione-helps-long-hauler-symptoms-72-diseases/
I hope I am not repeating myself, but I’ve had a very full, crazy day! ~J
MS
Again, Thank you so much J- Your advice is so appreciated. I will look into these other suggestions as well.
I have gleaned SO much from your knowledge over the years. I can’t thank you enough! I pray you find time for rest tomorrow. May God Bless you Dear One~MS

You might consider inhaling apple brandy from a charred oak keg as recommended by Edgar Cayce. I can’t tell you if it would work (haven’t ever needed to try it), but it couldn’t do any harm. Here’s a link, if you want to read about it. https://www.baar.com/lightweight-charred-oak-keg

The sound for this video is missing? It’s strange because it has a lot of views. Is there another link?
Jacqueline
Hi, MM,
The sound plays well for me! Try on another browser, bc it is working fine!
Hope it works for you there.

I recommend purchasing the book Ministry of Healing too, I have one. But if you can’t, you can read it online. https://m.egwwritings.org/en/book/135.6#0
Mama
While the content you post has been SO helpful to me and helped to save my family’s life when we got sick, I had to pause at this post, especially because I just recommended your site to someone for the first time. Ellen White was a false healer and false prophet(ess). I have no faith left in the pharmaceutical system of medicine. I also have become very weary of keeping up with the latest news and trying to afford and know all the natural medicines to use and ways to navigate the war ahead. If we could just touch his robe…
But perhaps we won’t need His robe; we have His Spirit, and He lives within us.
I am very afraid your site will get taken down soon but if so, I know who holds the knowledge and the keys. The LORD bless you and keep you and your family. Thank you for your bravery.
Jacqueline
Hi, Mama,
I just realized the connection between Ellen White and the book I had linked to, so I removed the book and link. Thanks for the information about her. I read this article about her by Ttim Challies: https://www.challies.com/articles/the-false-teachers-ellen-g-white/
Sending peace,

Jeannette
I should try this on my sinuses, using a washcloth for a smaller area. It looks simple enough to do!
I have chronic sinusitis, MARCoNS, and usually get a full-blown sinus infection once a year or so. For about 20 years now! I no longer use antibiotics for them, and that is pretty miserable! I have had surgery to remove a fungal stone in the sphenoid sinus (the deepest sinus.) So I am ready to try this!!
(I have been using a nebulizer with HP for a while now also.)
Thank you for sharing another very helpful post. God bless you for all of your work.
Jacqueline
Oh, Jeannette, that sounds so painful! I would love to know if this would be helpful. Also, would you be open to a homeopathic remedy for sinus issues? You may want to look into this: https://www.elixirs.com/products.cfm?productcode=HH23

I just read this wonderful story which included healing from pneumonia with prayer and fomentation treatment, so thought I’d share!

Jacqueline
Ruth, what a wonderful, rich story! Thank you for sharing it with us here. It gives us much to think about – and that dunking in hot and very cold water is really an eye opener to the power of fomentation!
Blessings to you,
Jacque
