Contrary to what has been published about Sars-Cov-2 and COVID, the real target of the venomous spike proteins of COVID is NOT ACE2 receptors. The venomous spike protein of Sars-Cov-2 – and all variants of it – target nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, specifically alpha-7 nACHR receptors.
This is NOT new information, it was just buried and hidden intentionally since April 2020 when French Académie des Sciences researchers identified that the spike proteins of Sars-Cov-2 are identical to two snake venom proteins that are neurotoxins called Cobra-toxin (King Cobras Venom Protein) and Bungarotoxin (Krait Snake Venom Neurotoxic Protein), both of which target nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in our central nervous system and brain.
By identifying that the venomous spike proteins target nicotine receptors, this finally explained to the scientists why smokers were the demographic least effected by COVID than any other demographic.
Dr. Ardis clearly explains how this affects breathing, oxygen levels dropping (hypoxia), loss of taste and smell, hearing (tinnitus), and the widespread problems with brain fog and cognitive function of long-COVID.
8 minutes.
French researchers explained that nicotine in smoker’s bodies was protecting the nicotine receptors from allowing venom spike proteins from binding to the (nicotine) receptors. In the paper, they even beg all governments around the world to fund studies on using Nicotine agents to prevent COVID worldwide… no one listened, shockingly.
Amazingly, they acknowledge why Ivermectin was/is so successful worldwide, and that is because Ivermectin binds to nicotine receptors also.
Here again, is that French Study article link, and a screen shot of the neurotoxic motifs of the Spike Protein published in the paper.

The NIH then funded and published this study in May 2023 CONFIRMING that the venomous spike proteins of Sars-Cov-2 target nicotinic acetylcholine receptors – NOT ACE2 receptors. I’ve highlighted this in yellow:

And I want to underscore once again, that Nicotine by itself is NOT addictive. Here’s the Harvard study linked in the image below. I’ve also I’ve highlighted that in yellow.

Why I Am Wearing Nicotine Patches
All of that is why I am as of today (4/5/24) wearing a 7 mg. nicotine patch/day for what I suspect are Long-Covid symptoms since last Christmas. Dr. Ardis and his wife have nicotine patching this since Nov 2022. Based on reports, it only takes 4-7 days to see significant relief using nicotine patches.
UPDATE 4/12/24: 6 days after starting (1) 7mg section of patch daily, I have a report. I saw little, if any, change the first 2 days, but towards the end of the second day, I felt slightly less dizzy and the non-stop racking cough was less jarring. Then, stupid me, I FORGOT the 3rd patch due to off the charts brain fog. Totally forgot to put it on before bed! (I am consistently going to bed between 9 and 10:30PM now which has been amazing for me since I used to be up writing at 1-3AM many nights). It was 24 hours later that I realized I forgot it. I put on the day 4 patch, and by the end of the day, my red eyes were better, the cough was less than half and very productive like my lower lungs were clearing out. My O2 with a pulse ox went from 95 up to 98-99, and my heart rate was down from 95-104 into the acceptable range of 80-86. SO, something is kicking in as I’m less irritable and the dizziness and shakiness are much, much less. I am feeling more motivated and pray it will continue as I continue patching for the next 2 weeks. At that time, I will join my husband in just using (1) 3 mg section per day as prevention.
**NEW UPDATE: 9/10/26: We (and many I know) just started patching again as prevention against this fall’s new shedding mRNA fall shot. We find the Tolevita Herbal Anti-Smoke Patches with 21 mg of natural tobacco extract, cut into 4 smaller pieces (approx 5 mg each) or into half (approx 10.5 mg) depending on your weight, is superior to and gentler than the Rugby patch, because Rugby is not fully natural and can cause irritation of the skin at the application site.

For folks who want to use nicotine for gut health, but can’t afford the patches, what are the options?
Jacqueline
Hi, Mac,
I would just buy just 1 box of the patches and cut them into strips. The full instructions and the brand are in this post: https://deeprootsathome.com/nicotine-healing-long-covid-ms-autism-parkinsons-alzheimers/
That comes out very inexpensively compared to anything else I know.
Praying for you. I believe you will see good come of it… just don’t use gun for gut issues you mention (pls read to the end for specifics!
Blessings,
Jacqueline
Mac
Jacqueline,
Thanks.
I see that the doctor just recommends the Rugby brand of patches, which is the most expensive.
Is there any reason why a cheaper brand, like Aroamas, would not be as good?
God bless your work.
Mac
Jacqueline
Yes, Mac, Dr. Ardis says because all other brands are hard on the skin, causing redness and irritating it (for many people, not all), but Equate (Walmart brand) has also been easier on the skin.
Maybe buy the 21 mg. patches and cut into the size you need – you’ll get more. I can get 3- 7mg patches (for long covid), but for prevention, that will give you 7- 3mg. patches. A weeks worth.
I hope that helps. ~J

Hi there! I’m a former RN and just wondering why several sources state that cutting the transdermal patches will result in unintended dosing of the nicotine. Do you think that Rugby brand are more adapted to cutting them due to a different delivery mode? I am desperate to treat my POTS/dysautonomia which is wreaking havoc for me and my family. Just started yesterday with 7mg patches. If I continue with this for the foreseeable future (for all the reasons stated by Dr. Ardis) I would probably start cutting them later. Thanks so much for your super helpful article on this!
Jacqueline
Heather, I’m so sorry you are all going through that! Risky to ask this, but could you all perhaps have been shed upon by someone who got the jab(s) or boosters in the last 4 years? Do you know the etiology of your POTS?
Many have and some can connect it and others don’t even know this is a thing. Please read this post as it is my basic recommendation and is helping so many, but of course, not all.
https://deeprootsathome.com/the-spike-protein-protocol-what-we-all-can-do-to-stay-healthy/ [In there are supplements that will help the body rid itself of the dysregulating SP. It will take 6-9 months or longer of TRS and the supporting supplements, but you will see progress.]
I don’t know why those sources are saying that about cutting the patches.. but I do believe that 7 mg may be too much and could exacerbate symptoms – better to start slow in my experience and also anecdotally heard that from a few of my patient clients.
I am not sure if you have seen these post (with videos) which may explain in more detail:

you can grow tobacco from sead, it is very easy, and then make a tea and use it as a foot bath as indicated in the other article she links to: https://deeprootsathome.com/nicotine-healing-long-covid-ms-autism-parkinsons-alzheimers/
Jacqueline
Jessie, have you grown tobacco? I have thought about getting seeds and trying, but I think our growing season may be too short! It would be the BEST way to insure it is good quality and not contaminated! ~J
Pam Knight
Hi, Just read this post and wanted to give you my experience of growing tobacco. I like to grow things so thought I’d try it and maybe make a tincture with the leaves. The seeds are crazy small! I sprinkled them over soil in a pot. I pressed them into the soil and did not cover with soil as they are literally microscopic in size . They finally came up but took a long time. Super slow growing! I almost gave up on them! Mine were well over 3 months old before I thought they were big enough to go into the garden. It’s August and the 6 plants I have are about 1 1/2 feet tall and look healthy. The plant description says they get 7 feet tall and produce leaves that are 18 inches wide by 30 inches long. We have about 2 1/2 months before a probable frost and they seem to be picking up speed now so they may get that large… will see. Having made it this far I would say, start your seeds very early indoors… like January. I got my seed from Victory Seed and the seed name is Big Gem. Once they finally got going they were not difficult or picky growers. I think you could easily grow one or more in a large size pot and bring indoors if needed. You would get a lot of leaf material from even one plant. They are cool looking plants and its been fun to try to grow them… I’ll probably try again next growing season as well. Now I just need to figure out what exactly to do with the leaves. The big takeaway from all this is they are very slow starters and you have to be very patient . Hope this helps you get growing. And … thanks for posting this super interesting nicotine page as well as all your others. Pam
Jacqueline
Pam, I have been thinking about growing them, but hadn’t gotten around to finding seeds! I am so grateful to know this and it makes me even more desirous to grow tobacco!
I hope that many see this and will try it too!
I plan to dry the leaves like I do mullein leaves:
Then I want to cut and make a soak for our feet. I think if our feet are clean initially, 4 or 5 of us could use the soak water and then sprinkle it back on our garden or dump it into our compost!
Blessings, fellow gardener, ~Jacqueline

Hi Jacque. My husband and I did the 7 mg nicotine patches for six days as Dr. Ardis recommended. We really were not having symptoms of long Covid, and we didn’t take the shot, but we do know from front line doctors that people shed the spike protein. And we’re around a lot of people who did take the shot. Now we are thinking of doing Dr. Ardis’ recommendation for maintenance. That is what he does now. It’s taking a 14 mg patch and cutting it into six even pieces and wearing one piece every day.
Jacqueline
Hi, Deb,
Exactly, what I am doing! Read this post for more details and it mentions for prevention, vs long-covid, vs for vacc injury!
God bless you!
Jacque
Jennifer
Hi Jacque,
I thought you said you were wearing a 7mg patch a day, but you told one of the commenters that you are using a 14mg cut into 6 pieces. That is much less than 7mg. I’m confused.
Jacqueline
Hi, Jennifer,
I am wearing a 7 mg patch cut from a 21 mg patch for Long-Covid sysmptoms. If you re-read the comment in question, I think you will see I am telling some what they could do for prevention.
There are lots of ways you can do it.
Thanks,
Jacque
Mac
Jacqueline,
I bought a box of 21 mg patches, and am going to cut them into 16 pieces, so about 1.3 mg each.
This is for gut health.
Do folks who use these slow release, low dose patches always take them off before bed? The package says to do that, but I am not sure if that is really needed for such a low dose.
I am not a smoker.
Mac
Mac
Note:
I do have trouble sleeping, that is why I ask the question.
I don’t want to make it any worse.
Although, I know that some people sleep better on nicotine.
Mac
Jacqueline
Hi, Mac,
I am not sure how others do it. I think it isn’t an exact science, so recommend you experiment with what works best for you.
I am leaving my patches on for 24 hours before changing, but I am only on day 2. Even though it is a little stingy when I took the first one off (like taking off a bandaid),
it wasn’t bad and went right away.
It has had no effect on my sleep so far, and if anything coughing less, so more peaceful.
Blessings,
Jacque
Syd
Hi there!
1) Is there any negative side affect to just staying on a 7mg patch every day? Or is it best to really reduce mg per day? I read that if you cut the larger dose mg patches it affects the nature of the time release?
2) I also read that it is important to move the patch every day to different areas of the body but it seems to sticks best on chest area… Is it okay to just place on different areas of the chest daily?
3) Also have been looking for a clean pouch option, seems as though pouches don’t specify exact ingredients (like they are hiding the bad stuff)…. we heard that (Zyn cool mint pouch) was a clean one but then on Pubmed read Zyn brand contains formaldehyde and maltitol etc….
Also looking for a cleaner gum as the gum the Dr. had listed had a few things I try to avoid like xylitol….. Thankyou so much for you help!!!! Really appreciate this article!
Jacqueline
Syd, I am still wearing the 7 mg patch and changing daily… It is by Rugby and quite gentle on my skin as Dr. Ardis noted.
I AM feeling MUCH better the longer I use it and have only forgotten twice. I apply it in a different spot every time on chest, abdomen, or the soft tissue under one of my upper arms.
I would recommend avoiding the pouches as there ARE additives apparently in them.. without a ways to know for sure, it seems safer to get the whole leaf from a good (verifiable) source as I listed and
go that direction, if you feel led to.
I hope that helps!
Blessings,
Jacqueline
KJ
Hello,
Any updates on this? Are you still using the maintenance dose? Do you feel there has been any distinct benefits in using them? Does it matter the time of day you apply them?
Thank you!
Jacqueline
Hi, KJ,
I’m assuming you’ve read my first update in the post near the end.
After all that, I did go down to using a 3 mg section of patch for 3 weeks or so weeks, and found I was no longer feeling any of the original long-covid symptoms. It was like before I was sick, coughing my head off day and night and cracking ribs from the jarring of it.
At that point, I stopped ‘cold turkey’ which proved to me that there was no addictive effect whatsoever.
But I would start patching again if I felt I was getting covid or long covid and also immediately nebulize:
https://deeprootsathome.com/dr-mercola-nebulized-peroxide-the-single-most-effective-early-strategy/
We put our patches on at night before bed and changed them 24 hours later each night. I preferred Rugby brand by a long shot, but they (Rugby) still caused some redness in the spot where they were affixed for 24 hours.
Instead of relying on nicotine patches now which are one more thing to do in a very busy schedule, I do my prevention with Methylene blue 1% as per this post: https://deeprootsathome.com/methylene-blue-keeping-it-from-staining-your-teeth/ We are up to 12-15 drops 2x/d now and doing well.
And we take IVM daily (12mg) and follow this protocol ( https://deeprootsathome.com/the-spike-protein-protocol-what-we-all-can-do-to-stay-healthy/ ) to a ‘T’ still to this day with TRS as our foundational detox bc we have so much chemtrailing here: https://deeprootsathome.com/what-to-do-about-the-aluminum-barium-were-breathing/
I hope that helps and God bless you,
Jacque
Michele
Hello Jacqueline! I am so intrigued by your articles on Nicotine. It’s been over a year since you wrote them, so I’m curious if you and your husband are still using the patches. If so, are you cutting them in smaller pieces? Since they are a time release patch, does cutting them interfere with the dosage that’s released? I’m apprehensive to cut them. I’d appreciate your personal input and opinion. My main interest in using them is for joint pain/inflammation. I am not a smoker and never have been. Thank you!
Jacqueline
Hi, Michele,
We did use them cut as I described in the post into strips, and we were very pleased that they helped us get over so-called 4-5 months of “long-covid” symptoms pretty quickly. We have not needed them since, but have them in case we do. We felt no difference in the delivery system when cut, but as people who have never smoked of tried to quit, we don’t know how to compare them whole.
As an RN who is familiar with skin patches for various things, I doubt cutting them will matter at all (nothing oozes or seeps out)… you are just essentially getting that smaller amount of nicotine in each application.
I hope that helps.
Jacqueline
Josie
Hello,
I was wondering if you started out using the patches dosed at 3.5mg for 7 days if it would have the same effect as the 7mg daily for long covid? I am very sensitive to supplements and medicine and usually have to take half the dose as what is recommended. Thank you
Jacqueline
Hi, Josie,
I just used 3 mg patches (by cutting 7 sections out of a 21 mg patch). I don’t know if it will have the same effect, but because you are sensitive, it is wise. Note that the patches may irritate your skin for a few days after you remove them. They irritated my skin somewhat with itching and redness, but otherwise, using them did make me feel so much better pretty quickly!
I am praying for you now!
Jacqueline
Mrs. R. G.
thank you for this article on nicotine. I have been able to get patches myself and have been experimenting on myself with it. I have experienced chronic inflammation for years. I am only now seeing a reduction in my stress, anxiety, and eczema! Please keep this blog going. It’s amazing and people need this information to save themselves. Here in Canada, our free healthcare has turned us into customers. We walk into a medical office, and instantly the dr is sizing us up offering different products before even listening to our concerns or exploring any deeper reasoning.. so thank you once again. I been on a journey since covid to educate myself and keep my baby healthy.
Jacqueline
Mrs. R.G.,
I have changed your name so as to keep your comment private (and your email does not show), but I want to keep your comment so it can give encouragement to others. Thank you so much for such a neat testimony for how nicotine patching worked for you!
It has helped so many and experimenting slowly is really the only way to see what works best for you.
I personally have switched to Tolevita patches as they are truly more natural.
Thank you,
Jacqueline
