I first researched both Baking soda and Borax quite a while ago and found them to be healthful when used in appropriate amounts — so, today I want to give you all the science —and you’ll see why I’m now taking a pinch of these myself daily.
If you have arthritis, osteopenia, osteoporosis, or even random joint pain —you will not want to miss this. All borax is naturally mined, there is no synthetic borax.
So often these simplest of healing compounds have been suppressed and then they are forgotten about. Well, no more.
Here’s the fascinating story of how the need for boron (in the form of Borax) for arthritis was originally discovered. (Actual recipes will follow below).
When scientist Rex E. Newnham, PhD, DO, ND, developed unexpected painful arthritis back in the 1960’s, he was stunned because he was quite healthy. Conventional drugs didn’t help his arthritic condition. He knew there had to be a reason that he, and others his age around him, were all developing arthritic pain.
Being a soil and plant scientist by training, he began investigating and discovered that the food crops in his area were deficient in the trace mineral Boron.
Not having any boron handy, Newnham began taking very small daily doses of a product called Borax. He knew the main ingredients in Borax are water, salt, oxygen and the trace mineral boron. Nothing more. Nothing less. So he began putting what amounted to one-eighth to one-quarter teaspoon of Borax into a liter of water each day, and drinking it.
You can read the outcome in his old writings here.
He wrote, “I found out all that I could about boron… 40-60 grams was too high a dose. So I took 30 mg of borax twice daily (~6 mg of elemental boron/day) and in a week the pain was less. In ten days the pain was less. In three weeks the pain, swelling and stiffness had all gone, so I stopped taking the borax. A year later the pain and swelling returned so I took more borax and in two weeks all was right again.”
He told public health and medical school authorities in and around Melbourne about his discovery, but they were not interested.
Eventually he had tablets made with a safe and effective quantity of borax.
Within five years and only by word of mouth he sold 10,000 bottles a month. He could no longer cope with the demand and by 1981 asked a drug company to market it.
That was a MAJOR mistake. They indicated that this would reduce their profits. Very soon afterwards Australia instituted a regulation declaring boron to be poisons in any concentration. Newnham was fined $1000 for selling a “poison”, stopping his work in Australia.
As Newnham began publishing his research, his arthritis findings traveled worldwide. That’s when the EU stepped in and also classified Boron compounds to be a “poison”, however, we know Boron has low toxicity in mammals (similar to table salt), but is toxic to arthropods (ants and cockroaches).” See Ants: Get Rid Of Them & Their Nest Fast, The Non-Toxic Way
No Stopping This Man
Not to be shut down completely, Newnham continued his research. As medical writer Walter Last, a former Chief Forensic Chemist at Cologne University in Germany would later detail:
“Newnham found, for instance that Jamaica has the lowest levels of Boron in the soil, and arthritis rates are about 70% of the population. He noted that even most dogs in Jamaica were limping.
But Carnarvon, Western Australia, has high boron levels in soil and water, and the arthritis rate is only 1%.
What Newnham demonstrated is that areas of the world with the lowest levels of Boron in their water and soil have the highest levels of arthritis. And where there are the highest levels of Boron there are the lowest levels of arthritis.
He also found that the lowest rates of arthritis were where the daily Boron intake (through food and water) were at least 3 mg. Anything lower than 3 mg. per day, and arthritis appeared to be the inevitable result for large swathes of the population.
One key study supporting his finding wrote: “A substantial number of (peer-reviewed) articles support boron supplementation of 3 mg/d for any individual who is consuming a diet lacking in fruits and vegetables or who is at risk for or has osteopenia; osteoporosis; osteoarthritis (OA); or breast, prostate, or lung cancer.” (source)
3 mg. of Boron Per Day For Both Bone and Cartilage Tissue
Newnham’s research provided some extremely insightful information into the role of Boron in arthritis. Walter Last explained:
“Bone analysis showed that arthritic joints and nearby bones had only half the boron content of healthy joints. Equally, synovial fluid that lubricates joints and provides nutrients to the cartilage is boron deficient in arthritic joints. After boron supplementation was instituted, bones were much harder than normal and surgeons found them more difficult to saw through.
(As a surgical nurse with a fair number of orthopedic cases in my day, I can attest to “soft” bones in most cases!)
“With additional dietary boron, bone fractures heal in about half the normal time in both man and animal. Horses and dogs with broken legs, or even a broken pelvis, have fully recovered.”
Newnham later stated that arthritis sufferers can get rid of their pain, swelling and stiffness in about one to three months from the time they start replenishing their body’s Boron levels by taking a total of 3 mg. of Boron per day.
What about toxicity?
As forensic chemist Walter Last would later point out, studies have demonstrated it takes ingestion of 26 mg. of Boron per kilogram of body weight before any kind of toxicity was noticed. That means a person weighing 160 pounds would have to take 216 mg. of Boron daily before signs of toxicity would begin to show up.
Just 3 mg. taken daily begins to wipe out arthritis symptoms in a few short months. It just has to be taken regularly.
Walter Last concludes his insights into Newnham’s research:
“Chemical fertilizers inhibit the uptake of boron from the soil: an organic apple grown in good soil may have 20 mg boron, but if grown with fertilizer it may have only 1 mg of boron or less. Fertilizers combined with poor food choices have greatly reduced our boron intake compared to 50 or 100 years ago.”
Yikes! No wonder we see so much arthritis!
Dr. Newnham’s research proves the theory that “we are what we eat.” And if we eat foods that are deficient in Boron, we will likely end up with bone loss from osteoporosis along with the wear-and-tear of arthritis, since Boron is needed for both bone and cartilage tissue repair.
Boron is dirt cheap!!!
Life Extension Boron, 3 mg, 100 vegetarian capsules are $5.95. Some people want to get better faster and want 5 mg or 10 mg, Read the reviews. Most people get results with boron.
Natural borax such as 20 Mule Team is also very effective (and cheap). This will also help raise your pH which is important for overall health.
Dr. Amanda Vollmer has put this video (and the transcript) together for those serious about getting well.
How Much To Use – Read Carefully:
Starting at 30:10 – 31:00 in the video above, Dr. Amanda Vollmer gives these directions for using borax:
“First, dissolve a lightly rounded teaspoonful (5-6 grams) of Borax in 1 litre of good-quality water. This is just your CONCENTRATED solution. Keep reading! Keep it out of reach of small children.”
Standard dose = ONLY 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of concentrate above. This has 25 to 30 mg of borax (and provides about 3 mg of boron). Take only 1 dose per day mixed with drink or food. If that feels right then take a second dose with another meal. For maintenance, you may continue indefinitely with 1 or 2 doses daily.”
More is NOT better. Follow directions exactly.
WARNING!!! DO NOT CONFUSE BORAX WITH BORIC ACID! DO NOT TAKE BORIC ACID IN PLACE OF BORAX!
NEVER take large amounts of “Borax” it can be harmful, even fatal.
Borax in very low doses is actually VERY beneficial to human health and health benefits can be enormous.
Pharmaceutical grade is not noticeably purer or better. All borax is naturally mined, there is no synthetic borax. (source)
What About Borax For Graphene Oxide & Toxic Additives Known to Be In the Jabs?

Borax is very useful in combating graphene nano-fibers which are widely found in disposable masks, as well as, COVID test swabs, which are critical for the dual purpose of DNA harvesting and collection. Many believe toxic additives are also in many of the jabs and boosters. Boron is an indispensable supplement for detoxing heavy metals and one of the few known nanobot replication-inhibitors.

Dr. Carrie Madej recommends a detox bath of borax and 3 other ingredients together at a medical conference:
1 minute.
For an external (not to drink) nano-detox bath, add these to hot water and soak as long as you can:
• 1 cup of baking soda (aluminum-free)
• 1 cup of Epsom salts (plain, without fragrance)
• 1 cup of pure borax
• 1/2 cup of Bentonite clay

Baking Soda: One of the Most Necessary Effective Medicines on Earth
In terms of importance, appropriate bicarbonate levels are just as crucial as hydration, getting enough oxygen, staying warm, maintaining healthy pH (high oxygen status) and optimal nutrition.
Medical College of Georgia scientists reported in The Journal of Immunology that a daily dose of baking soda helps reduce the destructive inflammation of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. The study confirms the hypothesis that Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3), commonly called baking soda, can be a simple cure to autoimmune diseases.
It is used in the bloodstream to regulate pH as a counterbalance to acid build up. Bicarbonate affects the pH of cells and tissues, balances cell voltage, and increases CO2, which helps with oxygenation.
Sodium Bicarbonate can be used as a first line of defense for a vast range of sickness including, cancer, flu, diabetes, kidney disease and even the common cold. Sodium Bicarbonate can be used in many forms whether transdermally in a bath or orally. Every cancer patient should be prescribed bicarbonate because it makes the hardest to kill, most acidic, cancer cells vulnerable to cancer treatments.
Using pH test strips makes it easy to monitor your pH. If you are not confident or are very sick, working with a functional medicine doctor is one way to insure you do it right. Search “functional medicine doctor near me“.

Debbie Ford
Wonderful article! I have borax in my home now, as it is one of the ingredients in my homemade laundry detergent. I’d love to know how much baking soda to take, and how to take it. Thank you.
Jacqueline
Debbie, I am taking 1/8 tsp Borax, 1/8 tsp baking soda (aluminum free), and 1/8 tsp Himalayan salt all in 1 liter of water and drinking it in the early part of the day.
I am 1 week in and feel good – no issues with it, and I know my body well.
For the first several weeks, I may drink 2 liters. I am 71 and have a lot of years of low boron to make up for!
I thank the Lord for all the good gifts He has given us!
Jacque
Debbie
Thank you. I didn’t get notified that you replied, but checked here and you did. I’m 70 years old. My 2 main health issues are blood sugar and arthritis pain in ankles. That keeps me more sedentary than I should be. I’m hoping the recipe above helps me.
I’m so thankful for all God has done for me. I can’t complain as I am so blessed!
Gary McCollom
Amen Jacqueline, our God appears to be showing many of us stuff like this. Wife and I have been taking a liquid for of Iodine with 6mg of Ionic Boron for a month or so now. Plus we do the teaspoon of baking soda.
Such deadly times we live in BUT I have never learned more in my life than during these last 3 years which just happened to coincide with my faith in God never being stronger in my entire life.
A friend!
I love you!! I just wanted you to know that. I’m super grateful for everything you post here. You are helping so many people! I can’t wait to try this.
May God continue to protect you and the good work that you are doing.
Jacqueline
Thank you, J! You are such an encouragement.
I love the little assignment the Lord has given me for these later years in my life. I just ask Him to lead me in doing it.
May this be a blessing to many!

Deborah Berko
Jaqueline,
For the last two weeks I have been experiencing severe stomach pains, diarrhea, chills, exhaustion and a bit of a rash. A friend of mine who knew that I started taking Borax in water (1 tsp/day), researched to see if there could possibly be any connection between the Borax and my current health situation. This was one of the articles about Borax poisoning. (https://www.verywellhealth.com/sodium-borate-5091931)
While I cannot conclusively say that taking the Borax liquid for almost three months is to blame, I thought it might be helpful to pose this possible connection in case anyone else has started to experience these symptoms.
Debbie
I’m sure Jacque will soon answer, but if you re-read the article above, you will see that you dissolve a rounded teaspoon of borax in a liter of water. You take one teaspoon of that mix daily. You are taking way too much. And I don’t think liquid borax would be as “clean” as the powder. Looking forward to Jacque’s reply.
Katie
Hi Deborah,
I personally think that if you are taking the recommended dose of 1 tsp of the concentrate (1 tsp borax in 1 liter water), then I think it’s a low chance that you are experiencing boron poisoning. It’s the minimum dose that is recommended from what I’ve read. Often 2 tsp of concentrate is recommended for people who are experiencing stronger symptoms of boron deficiency (osteoporosis, arthritis, etc).
Borax is anti-parasitic. It could be that you are experiencing a detox reaction as the boron cleans out your body. It could also be food poisoning or some bad tummy bug. When I lived in India, I unknowingly drank contaminated water for several days and ended up with the exact symptoms like you describe. I always thought it was probably a parasite infection.
Our bodies need minerals in the right proportions. Making sure you drink/eat grass-fed raw milk from a clean source, homemade bone broth, good fats (butter, eggs), and lots of fruits and veggies is very important (WAPF diet). These nutrients all work together:
– Calcium
– magnesium (regular Epsom salts baths which also give essential sulfur)
– vitamin A (good grass-fed animal fats, cod liver oil, egg yolks)
– vitamin D (cod liver oil and sunshine)
– vitamin K2 (gouda cheese, eggs yolks, or high quality supplement of K2-7)
I think that you need a nutrient dense diet that includes the above in order for boron to do its best job in your body. Just my own thoughts.
Maybe you could try stopping the borax supplement for a couple weeks to see how you feel, then start up again at 1/4 tsp of the borax concentrate daily to see how you react. Maybe your body needs less than other people or just a gradual increase over time as you work up to the 1 tsp dose.
Katie
Jacqueline
Thank you for that additional information, Katie!
I agree, but would like her to stop completely for at least a few weeks and reevaluate. Also, watch stools for parasites, though in my experience (with other supplements0, many never see them whole, but it bits and often eggs in a gel sac.
This is why I pray over every post because sometimes people read a portion of something, but not the rest. We must all read for nuance so as not to give the enemy a foothold.
Thanks again! ~J
Jacqueline
Debbie, thank you for catching this and responding for me!
Blessings,
Jacque
Jacqueline
Deborah, yes, you were poisoning yourself. The instructions are very specific. It is not the product, but the amount you were taking. Many are doing this using the product, and we personally are as well.
No poisonings.
I’ll email you now.
Jacque
Jacqueline
Deborah, I am just seeing this!
If you are taking the recommended dose of 1 tsp of the concentrate/day, you are are experiencing something unrelated to that.
But if you are taking 1 tsp of the undiluted Borax in water Stop! You are taking wayyyy too much.
This is what the directions are:
“How Much To Use:
Dr. Amanda Vollmer gives directions:
“First, dissolve a lightly rounded teaspoonful (5-6 grams) of Borax in 1 litre of good-quality water. This is just your CONCENTRATED solution. Keep reading! Keep it out of reach of small children.”

I will contact you by email. I’m praying and so thankful for your friend!
Sending peace,
Jacque
Deborah
Thank y ou Jacque. I was taking two teaspoons of the diluted a mixture a day. My nails are nice and strong; so, that has been a benefit. A friend of mine started taking boron supplements and no longer has neck problems. She is most grateful. I think that to play it safe, I will simply take a boron supplement once I fully get over whatever is going on with my GI tract.
Michelle Sullivan
Thank you once again for sharing such valuable and well-researched information, Jacque.
I am eager to start this regimen to lessen my pain level!
You are a blessing.
My love in Christ,
Michelle
Jacqueline
Oh, Michelle, I sure hope it helps your pain and overall health. I am so thankful for our Lord who gives us such good gifts!
So blessed to call you friend!
Love in Christ back,
Jacque
Beni
Thank you for this info!
Is there a risk of the bentonite clay clogging plumbing or septic systems?
Jacqueline
Hi, Beni! Yes it could clog an already slow running drain if too much is used. Bentonite clay goes a long ways, so not much is needed.
For the detox baths, don’t use a 1/2 c of bentonite, but rather 1/4 to 1/3 cup is all one needs, and perhaps less if immersed in it.
If you need to use more, soak feet and up to the calves in a tall bucket that you can slop out the door into the grass instead.
Great, practical question.
Bless you,
Jacque
Katie
Jacqueline,
I wrote to my husband’s farming mentor and he said borax can be applied as a soil amendment in spring when crops are growing. Apply 1/2 to 1 box of 20 mule team borax per 100 acres. That would be dissolved in water and applied with a sprayer.
To use in the orchard and garden, the rate works out to about 9-18 grams per acre. For small gardens, you’ll have to do more math to figure out the rate. =)
Feel free to include this info in your post, if you like. Then people know they can use borax to amend their own soil.
Katie
Wendy
Thanks for sharing this! Writing it down for my garden next spring!
Katie
Hi Wendy! You’re welcome! I replied to your comment, but must have done something wrong because it didn’t show up under your comment, just in the main comment section, so you’ll see it below.
Katie
Jacqueline
Katie, I am learning so much from you! Thank you, Thank you! I hope people will find this here until I can write about it!
If you ever want to write about it, I would put it out as a whole post with the video. You already have a lot of it written it looks like!
My schedule is crammed but if you ever feel the urge to tackle it, I can somehow get it out there.
Right now I am so over my head with family and garden and winterizing, and correspondence with patient/clients, etc. but things should slow down one day soon, hopefully!
I know my husband will be interested too and by spring, we may actually have the time to apply it!
Sending love and blessings!
Jacque
Katie
You’re welcome! Some more info:
One of boron’s roles is to distribute minerals evenly throughout the plant. To discern if you have sufficient boron in your soil, you can take brix measurement from different levels of the same plant throughout the growing season.
Brix is measured with a refractometer. It is a measurement of sugar content in the sap/juice of the plant leaves or fruit. Sugar content indicated mineral content and, therefore, nutrient density. Higher sugar = higher nutrient density = more frost tolerant. To get higher brix, the macro minerals in the soil need to be in correct proportions and this opens up the soil to allow biology (microbes) and carbon to thrive. Trace minerals usually fall into place when the macro minerals are balanced.
To learn more about soil health, this is a great resource:
https://www.youtube.com/@SoilWorksLLC-GSRCalcium
Katie
Katie
Just one more follow up to using borax as a soil amendment:
When measuring brix for the purpose of discerning boron content, you are looking for similar brix throughout the whole plant at different levels (heights) on the same plant during the whole growing season to indicate sufficient boron. Drought conditions could cause brix readings to be less accurate.
Katie
Wendy
Thanks for the detailed reply! 🙂 I’m somewhat familiar with refractometers and measuring brix, but haven’t really delved into it yet. Maybe I’ll put my science-minded son onto it. Thanks again for the info!
Katie
You’re welcome!
Measuring brix is an excellent tool to see if what you’re doing to your soil is actually helping. It also gives you a better idea of when to harvest foods and herbs. A hint – it’s not early morning like many people say! You’ll find the brix is highest during mid-day hours when the sun is highest in the sky.
One of my herbals is written by a German woman (God’s Pharmacy by Maria Treben) and she repeatedly says throughout her book to harvest your medicinal herbs when they are dry and the sun is high in the sky.
(Sorry – I just keeping thinking of more to say!)
Katie
Jacqueline
Well then Katie, maybe you already have the urge to write it up in an article! 🙂 This is great and helpful info. I need to look for a picture(s) of how measuring brix looks, as a picture is worth a thousand words!
Katie
Jacqueline – Thanks for the suggestion. I’d love to write something up, but right now can only say I’ll consider it. We’re in the middle of harvesting our fields and finishing up the garden for now. =)
Katie
Katie
Jacque,
Have you read anything about the safety of using this borax concentrate internally during pregnancy? I have not come across much yet and much of it seems to be from sources that are bias against borax/boron.
I have read about how borax can balance hormones and is great for the menopausal years. One local naturopathic doc told me that he would advise staying away from anything during pregnancy that affects hormones.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Katie
Jacqueline
Katie, just to be on the safe side, I would not take it during pregnancy. xoxo
God bless you and your little one – if you are telling us you are with child! 😀
Katie
Thanks, Jacque. I’m on a mission to educate myself about the childbearing years. My children have a great interest in learning about pregnancy, labor, delivery, and raising children because they know my husband and I have learned many things about health and nutrition the hard way.
Part of my mission is to find out what is safe during pregnancy or not. That’s a difficult study because many resources contradict each other (like my herbal books) and it seems like the main suggestions I’ve seen are:
1) Do not take any herbs, supplements, or meds during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
2) Take herbs supplements, and meds only with supervision of a qualified healthcare practitioner during pregnancy/breastfeeding.
One local naturopathic doc told me that he would recommend never taking anything during pregnancy that affects the hormones. I’m not sure what he meant, so should ask him, because red raspberry leaf affects hormones, but is beneficial during pregnancy. I know borax can affect hormones and is anti-parasitic – parasite cleanses should not be done during pregnancy/breastfeeding, so was curious what you thought.
Can you recommend trusted resources (website, books) about which herbs, supplements and meds are safe or not during pregnancy?
Thanks!
Katie
Jacqueline
Katie, I wish I had the time to do a deep dive into this topic. I have always wanted to get a few Rosemary Gladstar herbal books bc I think she would elucidate more on it.
Then, I just found Rosalee de la Forêt’s website and searched pregnancy and a whole bunch of her articles came up: https://www.herbalremediesadvice.org/?ss360Query=pregnancy
So it might be a good starting place.
Caveat, I did see a post about astrology on Rosemary Gladstar’s site 🙁 so you’ll have to find and meat and spit out the bones!
At Learning Herbs, I searched “pregnancy” and found this bc pregnancy is mentioned.. https://learningherbs.com/?s=pregnancy
I hope this is helpful! Likewise, if you find a treasure trove of truly good herbal books, let me know.
I found this neat children’s wildcrafting game I want to order: https://learningherbs.com/wildcraft/
I love that your children are interested!!
Sending peace,
Jacque
Jacqueline
Katie, forgot to mention this page has 2 books I am interested in! https://www.herbalremediesadvice.org/
Katie
Thank you so much, Jacque. Those are great starting points. I own Naturally Healthy Pregnancy by Shonda Parker. It’s my favorite pregnancy book, though I disagree with her diet recommendations (more vegetarian/soy/grains based). She has a basic list of commonly used medicinal herbs to avoid during pregnancy.
We own Wildcraft – it’s a family favorite in winter!
These are my go-to favorite general herbal books that I own:
– Backyard Pharmacy by Rachel Weaver
– Health through God’s Pharmacy by Maria Treben
– The Green Pharmacy Herbal Handbook
by James Duke
– The Green Pharmacy by James Duke
These have varying info re: what’s safe for pregnancy, so I’d LOVE to have a book that is strictly about herbs for childbearing years. Shonda Parker’s is the closest thing I know of, but hers is not comprehensive.
I’ll keep hunting and let you know if/when I find more resources.
Thanks!
Katie
Jacqueline
Katie, and I forgot to mention this post: https://deeprootsathome.com/herbs-to-avoid-during-pregnancy-and-lactation/
And I have Shonda Parker’s books, but don’t usually share them for the reason you mentioned. It would confuse my message.
Blessings,

Deborah Berko
I have been meaning to post an update on my earlier comments. The extreme GI issues I was experiencing were NOT due to taking Boron but due to the latest covid strain. I was one of the first to get it where I live (after a lady couged for ten minutes straight at a Bible study whrer I was sitting) and nobody else was experiencing it. So, I did not recognize it for what it was. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused.
Katie
Hi Deborah – Jacqueline just posted this today which talks about long-term diarrhea related to covid/vax shedding exposure:
https://deeprootsathome.com/darkfield-blood-analysis-on-contaminated-grocery-meat-products/
Thanks for updating – I’m so glad it wasn’t boron poisoning!
Katie
Deborah Berko
Thank you Katie. I did catch today’s article . . . another great piece from Jacqueline! Thank GOD for the work that she does.
Jacqueline
Deborah, Yay, I am so thankful you figured out it wasn’t the boron that was causing your GI issues! Yep, covid mutations – that sounds about right!
No worries… It all shakes out in the end!
Sending peace,
Jacque
Geri Ridenhour
Jacqueline,
This is one of your BEST – meaning I related to this article in particular.
I would never have the time to read, interpret and put out all the useful info that you do, so I am so grateful God has chosen to use you in this way. I will be putting this into practice starting today.
I have also gone from article to article on books for children to see that I have character building and informative books for my grands.
Thanks buckets and bunches for all you do. May God’s abundant blessings fall on you today and always.
Geri
P. S. I am without email so cannot read you except online.
Jacqueline
Aw, Geri, it is my pleasure.. I fit it into my week to write, but have SO much I’d love to write about. There is literally no end to things that I wish I knew more of the truth about and so I do the research
and get to writing. I also come upon things that are so good and quick reads that I ask if I can share, so I am not actually putting all of this together myself.
I just pray that the Lord will send whoever he decides to send to DRAH and leave the outcome to Him.
I appreciate your encouragement! You are a dear friend to me.
Sending love,
Jacque
Carol L
Thank you so much for this post. Very valuable information. If you can’t do a full bath, how much of the bath soak would you add to a footbath?
I have been advised by my naturopathic doctor to add baking soda to my 100+ oz of daily water (I’m diabetic and severely dehydrated at all times), but I can’t stand the ‘flavor’ of the water, making it difficult to drink my daily dose. I have tried adding lemon juice to it, but am afraid of the effect on my teeth….any advice, especially if I add borax to it as well?
Jacqueline
Hi, Carol,
Yes, I would use the smallest amount of water – say just a 1/2″ in your glass so you can chug it down and miss a lot of the “flavor” of it, then follow with a good 1/2 to 1 full glass of pure water so there is no taste at all remaining and to dilute it in your stomach. Be brave and you will do great, knowing you are helping yourself in the long-run!
Do you know if you have good kidney function (the GFR, creatinine and BUN, esp)? Knowing that can make all the difference bc many docs miss it. If you want a quick consult to support what you are doing, I work gratis and have been supporting patients for many years. You can email me with the 3 top things you’d like to see addressed naturally at [email protected] if needed.

Carolyn
What is the dose of baking soda to fight auto immune diseases including Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Jacqueline
Hi, Carolyn,
You can overdo baking soda like anything else. The goal is to keep your urine pH at 6.6-6-8. So you will need some pH strips to test first thing in the morning. To achieve ~6.8, you will need between 1/4 and 1/2 teaspoon in a half cup of water at bedtime and adjust dose to get the desired 6.8 pH on the test strip.. Don’t take it at or around meals or it will decrease your stomach acid and your food won’t be digested properly. Please read this post to the end: https://deeprootsathome.com/baking-soda-a-multi-purpose-helper-for-health-home-emergency/ and look for the section “Nature’s Antacid and Kidney Alkalinizer”.
I should note that alkalinizing with baking soda helps with SO many health issues because being acidic drives inflammation and makes the body more prone to aging, parasites, metabolic imbalances, etc.
I hope that helps,
Jacque
Carolyn
Thank you – this is very helpful! I believe that yesterday I signed up for everything available from you, but will you be sure it went through? You are an amazing resource for help!

Hi, Carolyn, thank you for the encouragement! It means a lot!
I wish sometimes I could check what you are asking to be sure, but because of Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and international platform and website rules, I am not able to see who subscribes and who doesn’t. Nor am I able to add anyone ethically. It has to be done by the person themselves so websites don’t/can’t manipulate follower or subscriber numbers, etc. Does that make sense?
I hope that helps, new friend!
Blessings,
Jacqueline
Carolyn
Yes that makes sense. Just curious because you mentioned international platform are you inside the United States?
Jacqueline
Yes, but all U.S. websites are governed by multi-national rules instituted about a number of years ago. I think the rules came about because web traffic and financial transactions all crosse state and multi country boundaries. My webmaster is in the know on all that and we had to comply like everyone else back then. ~J
