25 Fall-inspired science activities & crafts for preschoolers, kindergarten & elementary age kids!
There is so much we adore about the mellow days of Fall!
Our family especially enjoyed getting outside to enjoy the cooler weather and collect nature’s beauties like gourds and mini-pumpkins and pine cones and leaves for projects! The seasonal change always led us as homeschoolers to think about a few fun fall themed science activities for hands-on learning.
Science and crafts in the fall are so easy and colorful. And one of the best parts about hands-on projects in the Fall is being able to make a mess outside.
There’s an abundance of science to observe and crafts to do outside during the Fall season:
- the days become shorter and cooler
- leaves change colors
- and trees begin to shed both their leaves and seeds
- animals start hibernation, behaviors like murmuration or migratory habits like the Sandhill Cranes.
- the night sky begins to shift – kids probably notice you can see the moon both at night & in the morning
Each link below shows the how to’s of great fall science activities and experiments to try with your child.
These Fall science ideas also incorporate a great deal of MUCH NEEDED sensory play and sensory system stimulation.
Let me inspire you with some seasonal science and fun experiments with leaves, apples, pumpkins and more favorites!

Congratulations to you, Grandma, and to your daughter. What a blessing. 🙂 I just had baby 5 in June. If I were to suggest any must-have items for a new mother they would be:
1 – a quality co-sleeper (arms reach)
2- a quality sling (sakura bloom) AND a quality baby carrier (either Ergo or Tula)
3 – a top notch stroller (I have a BOB Revolution)
4 – cloths diaper and supplies from Green Mountain Diaper
5 – And a gift for mom—a subscription to Wild + Free, some soul food for you new mama 🙂
All of the items above can be rather pricey but all of them have lasted years and years through many babies. If you have those items along with a few clothing items for each stage of development, you should be nearly set for years to come.
God Bless

Aw Justina, thank you! Those are all great helps and I took notes for purchasing specific things for this blessed event! Thank you for your blessing! I am so very excited, but also know I will be 3,000 miles away when I get home. It makes a difference how I pray and draws me ever closer to the Lord!
Grace and peace, ~J

Your blog has been such a blessing to me Jacqueline. I would love to ask you a few specific questions to get your opinion. I swore off social media years ago so unfortunately, there is no way for you to DM me, but would you be willing to respond via email?
