The FDA just recalled 28 drinks for having ingredients, not listed on the label, including red 40, yellow 5, and even —wait for it —arsenic. (This reminds me of the old play (and 1944 movie) Arsenic and Old Lace where 2 elderly aunts were serial killers using arsenic-laced elderberry wine.)
The recalls ranged from soda to juice, and baby formula to tea and coffee.
All but four of those were recalled because they had pharmaceutical drugs, bacteria, or harmful chemicals in them that the company didn’t disclose. It has many of us wondering – is anything safe to drink?

This is a Serious Problem
In the list of recalled drinks, Himalayan pain relief tea didn’t disclose an anti-inflammatory medication ingredient on its label! (source)
Martinelli’s Apple Juice was also on the recalled list because it contained high levels of arsenic.
Around 1.9 million bottles of Fiji Water, made by Natural Waters of Viti Limited, were recalled after three types of bacteria were found in the water in addition to high levels of manganese.
Last week, four drinks produced by Charles Boggini Company called Pink Lemonade, Yellow Lemonade, Yellow Lemonade X, and Cola Flavoring Base were recalled over food dyes linked to cancer risk. Those dyes, which were not disclosed as an ingredient, include Red 40 and Yellow 5.
The dyes contain benzidine, which is carcinogenic to humans and animals. And the Cola Flavoring contained undeclared sulfites, preservatives that can cause allergic skin reactions, digestive issues, and asthma in people with sulfite sensitivity.

Many of these are part of an ongoing recall, so this list could be updated at any time. It’s best to check your beverages and do not consume any of those listed here. Some of the recalls are serious and these drinks can pose severe health risks.
One personal thought: Could FDA recalls be used to attempt to discredit and put truly organic/healthy companies out of business along with the ones really violating standards and ethics? Makes me think of the recent FDA raids on Amish farms, organic dairy farmers and organic food co-ops.

Hi Jacqueline,
I’m usually the skeptic, so the first thing I notice is that many of those recalled beverages seem to be healthy/natural/organic companies and that’s a red flag to me. I know many “organic” companies are not necessarily using all healthy ingredients, so it’s good to read labels (or made your own!). The Mt. Capra formula surprised me. Do you think this could be a war on organic/healthy products that is not legit to try to put these good companies out of business?

Katie, the thought had occurred to me. I just went back to Mt. Capra’s site, and the formula kit is gone, so it looks like they don’t carry it anymore.
I sure hope they weren’t targeted.. and considering that we had formula unavailable for so long – and there are some mothers that can’t nurse for some reason..
I don’t trust the 3 letter agencies any longer! They are not doing their original job and actually harming us with misinformation and worse…
My experience with Mt. Capra has been excellent, though, and I still trust them and would purchase from them again.

Btw, I have been snowed under this summer, but wanted for weeks to ask if it was true that the water situation there where you live is very dire. I read that water resources have been diverted (maybe in your area), and farms are in jeopardy. I have been praying that it is not true, since I don’t know where you live to search/verify the situation. I don’t need to know where you live, but have been praying that the evil would stop and true freedom from tyranny would be had for all.

Hi Jacque! We’re on the Canadian prairies and have not had a dire water situation this year. Our local area just came out of 7 years of drought. This year we’ve had two major deluges of rain with flooding on our land. So far crops are looking pretty good, though some moisture stress. I’m not aware of water being diverted anywhere close to us (unless you count chem trail manipulation!).
I’ve been battling anger re: chem trails because we’ve got it bad this year and there is a lot of white stuff on the surface of our soil this year (what we call “alkali”). It’s easy to blame chem trails for what’s happening with soil. Last week I read a blog post in which the lady encouraged folks to not give too much time to the news these days, but to memorize Colossians 3:1-4. That came up this week as our family Scripture memory!

Katie, it’s helpful to know how you are doing, and so thankful to hear that you are out of that drought now.
So is the ‘alkali’ raising the pH to more alkaline? I can’t wait to know what you have come up with to combat that. We have a lot of fruit here, and so we need to stay slightly acidic.
I will continue to pray for you, your family, crops and farm.
