Amazed by Monarchs: Precision That Can’t Be Explained By Evolution

[I want to share just one story from Inspired Evidence, a book I am enjoying immensely. If recent days seem dark and out of control to you, a page a day will renew and strengthen hope and confidence in the only One who has always been fully in control!] 

Each fall more than 100 million monarchs migrate from all over North America to 12 small groves of fir trees in a 60 x 70 mile area on a mountain range west of Mexico City.

And they do this without ever having made the trip before! (read to the very end to be amazed at the PRECISION of HOW this happens)

Let’s follow their life cycle process through one calendar year:

• The monarchs leave Mexico in March – arriving in North America to mate and lay eggs. These eggs hatch, grow into butterflies, mate, lay eggs, and die – all within about a month.

• Subsequent generations keep moving north -all the way to Canada – mating, laying eggs, and dying.

• Months go by and in August/September, the great-great grandchildren of the original butterflies that left Mexico are born.

• This generation must make the migration back to Mexico – a journey of up to 3000 miles.

• The monarchs that spend the winter in Mexico live for about eight months, while the others live only 1 to 2 months.

• The entire round-trip migration of monarchs takes place over 3-5 generations.

How did they know where to go?

Evolution says this all happened by chance; but how could it have? There are too many steps.

God set this trip up from the beginning to show his great power. God has bound the information into the genetic code of each butterfly so that each “knows “what stage of the migration cycle it has to fulfill. This information is passed onto each generation.

This shouts design. (but there is MORE below)

“Be thou exalted, Oh God, above the heavens; let the glory be above all the earth.” ~Psalm 57:5

This is enchanting! 4 minutes.

Now, for Monarchs in Metamorphosis…

Far more incredible than monarch migration, is the monarch’s metamorphosis. EVERYTHING about this creature is unexplained by evolution.

How does a caterpillar make a chrysalis (aka pupa) and dissolve itself into jelly… And then come out a butterfly?

How could a creature with a chewing mouth that eats only leaves… develop a long tongue that sucks only nectar?

How could a creature with six simple eyes which is which see in black-and-white… Create two new eyes each made up of 6,000 individual lenses with the ability to see in color?

How could a creature with 16 legs become jelly… and produce completely differently shaped legs (six) and wings (4)?

How could this have happened by chance… When any flaw or mistake along the way would have produced death?

God, the master engineer, designed this incredible system; whereby, the caterpillar itself seals itself into a chrysalis, dissolves itself into jelly, and emerges as a butterfly.

As you follow the monarch’s migration, be amazed by his 3,000 mile flight… but be equally amazed at how it transformed itself into a butterfly!
