In the past 5-6 months we have all had some surreal distractions, but I keep feeling the need to prepare for ‘something.’ Is it my typical female need for security? An irrational urge from fear?

    30 Tips for Parents
Get your PDF: 30 Tips to Help Parents of Boys!

I told my husband I’ve had this nudging in my spirit to be preparing for ‘something’ for the last 3-4 months. To buy “fresh” seeds. To stock up on some stuff… but why?

I’ve ramped up my research in many areas— as many of you have. The biggest problem is knowing what to take action on vs. what to ignore. I asked the Lord for wisdom and was surprised when my calm husband said one day, “Let’s do it!” I felt that was the confirmation I needed to get busy with what I’m sharing today. I am preparing on a bit larger scale than before.

While I’m not an alarmist, I do want to make you aware of what appears to be happening behind the scenes… that the news is not talking about at all.

In my way of thinking, it is better to be prepared in a moderate way than to not do anything at all.

I made a pro/con list (per Benjamin Franklin’s method… see below) and the list went in favor of stocking up on food. Even if nothing out of the ordinary happens, we could, of course, eat from it, share it, and then gift the rest to a food bank after things settle down.

    In case you’re interested here’s Ben Franklin’s pro/con method:

“My way is to divide half a sheet of paper by a line into two columns; writing over the one Pro and over the other Con. Then during three or four days’ consideration, I put down under the different heads short hints of the different motives, that at different time occur to me, for or against the measure. When I have thus got them altogether in one view, I endeavor to estimate their respective weights; and where I find two, one on each side, that seem equal, I strike them both out. If I judge some two reasons con equal to some three reasons pro, I strike out five; and thus proceeding, I find where the balance lies; and if after a day or two of further consideration, nothing new that is of importance occurs on either side, I come to a determination accordingly.” –Benjamin Franklin

Hopefully that made you smile and it might come in handy when you have decisions to make. 🙂

    Okay, here we go!

Washington State has been stocking away millions of dollars of non-perishable food — so have other states and the US federal government — in anticipation of a food shortage. If states are preparing for a food shortage, would we be wise to also?

Here are clues I’ve found, none of which alone is conclusive proof, but taken together are good indicators:

    • March: Federal coronavirus plan predicts at least an 18-month pandemic and warns that there will be shortages as it prepares for ‘multiple waves
    • July: Canned Food Shortages Across The United States Have Begun
    • Aug: Washington state stockpiles tons of food for the need ahead
    • Aug: Gold price spike shows real fear of inflation

From all I can find out, this is credible. 8 minutes:

This 6 minute video is also key.. If what happened in April happens again (massive forced slaughter and dumping), it would compound things fast.

There is more evidence that a food shortage is being created: BEING CREATED!

What if an early mandatory vaccine is capable of tracking the recipient with AI, paving the way for the one we are told in Revelation NOT to take?

What if we will not be able to buy or sell? We personally will not be taking any of their vaccines, so we are preparing for a “personal” food shortage. In actuality, we do NOT know what lies ahead (except what the Bible states), so we are trusting the Lord will lead us as we seek Him.

Places to Start, IF you Decide this Food Shortage Info is Credible:

I am buying various non-perishable foods for 2 (not hoarding or too way out)—canned meats (salmon, tuna and chicken), 5-6 varieties of beans and refried beans, vegetables, aseptically packaged soups, rice milk, plastic bags of rice and quinoa, pasta sauce, marinara, noodles, simmer sauce, unsweetened apple sauce, canned olives, canned coconut cream, medicinal raw honey, ACV, condiments, etc.

Canned goods are known to keep for years if stored properly.

    Think Gardening for Food Preparedness

I just placed my order for open-pollinated (and some heirloom) seed— not hybrid seeds. Many are selling/sold out.

(My list of Excellent seed companies that are NOT affiliated with Monsanto).

    Why Not Hybrid seeds:

    1. Seeds saved from heirloom vegetables will produce plants that are true to type, unlike hybrid seeds. (source)
    2. If you save seeds from heirloom vegetables over several years, you can gradually select seeds from the plants that perform best in your local soil and climate with more resistance to local pests and diseases.
    3. Heirloom vegetables don’t ripen all at once preventing the glut of the all-at-once harvest.

Many heirlooms have wonderful stories of how they came to America. They can be passed down just like a grandfather clock.

Many home gardeners rely on their seed-saving abilities —one of the oldest basic human skills —to build up personal seed stocks as they strive for self-sufficiency.

What God’s Word Says About Being Ready:

Let’s prepare in every way, especially our hearts, rooted in faith!

Romans 13:11 – And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Matthew 24:44 – Therefore be ye also [spiritually] ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Hebrews 11:7 – By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Proverbs 6:6-8 – Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.

1 Corinthians 16:13 – Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

1 Peter 3:15 – But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

Matthew 25:13 – Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Take heart and stay strong in the Lord! Share Jesus! Jesus transcends everything our world is facing now.

Thanks so much for the information and the lists of foods that are good to stock up on. My daughter-in-law and I have been talking a lot lately about the much-touted “second wave”. Not wanting to face the empty shelves, lack of paper products, etc. again have also started storing away food, soap and other essentials for this fall/winter. It just makes sense to, and as you said, it’ll eventually all be used or can be given to those in need when this passes. Also…don’t forget your pets. A few weeks into the hysteria, pet food, litter, etc., started disappearing as well). We’ll join you in prayer as well. How blessed we are to know whatever happens here, we are in our Sovereign God’s loving hands.

      Hi Jackie.

I’ve had the same feelings…….should probably do as much canning and freezing as I can……we don’t know what the winter months will bring and I want to have enough on hand in case my kids or grandkids need something. It’s harvest time and I’ve been canning and freezing all that I can from our garden. Deer season is coming and hubby does hunt. I can bake bread and I cook from scratch a lot. Not many store boxes or cans make their way into our home. I haven’t watched your video yet, but I will. Funny thing is……we’ve lived like this our entire 35 year marriage. I know that we are to be prepared but we are also suppose to trust in the Lord’s provision……….which is how I see the abundance of our garden……by His hand.

I will watch your video soon.
      Hugs and blessings,
      Brenda

I ordered some heirloom seeds from Ready Nutrition a couple of days ago. I already had several containers of survival seeds, however, had had some of them for years and felt I probably needed some newer seeds. They claim to have them in stock for the time being, at least, and ship within a couple days of the order.
I have a decent amount of “survival” foods, but living down here in Texas, if the power goes out for an extended period of time, that 25 year shelf live goes down to a few months. If not maintained at 70 degrees or cooler, it rapidly degrades, according to their own information. It has been at or near 100 degrees for over a month with at least another month to go before it will cool off. If the grid goes, and people do not have alternative ways to keep their stored food cool, it will not be usable in short order.
I have bought several cases of Hormels Completes, perhaps not the healthiest foods, but completely cooked and can be eaten without heating, if necessary. Also have sterno stoves, and canned heat to cook with. Sterno is said to be safe to use inside the house, unlike most camping type stoves. Instant coffee is said to last pretty well, if left unopened until ready to use. Have also bought several small loaves of Velveeta cheese, since they do not need refrigeration until opened. I have four peach trees, a lemon tree and an orange tree, on my patio, couple blueberry bushes, and grape vines, and planters and dirt to use in the future.
I also have blackout curtains for all the windows, and have stored a lot of water, since I do not live near a source of water that I could get to. I have a couple porta-pottie type things with the bags and other means to contain it should the sewer system go down.
I own a small generator, and have purchased the smallest appliances I can find, which will require the smallest amount of wattage, to get the most use out of the generator with the least amount of gas.

Just watched the video that is in the article and it reminded me of something that was going on during the Obama admin. It was about the time that they had passed a law that in cases of national emergency the govt could seize peoples’ stocks of food, their livestock, etc, for the “greater good.”
At first just one of the prepper companies put out a notice to their customers that the feds were demanding lists of all their customers and what those people had bought from them and where it was shipped to and how it was paid for. And it gradually came out that DHS was threatening those companies if they did not comply with their demands.
They are also doing aerial mapping in most states which they claim is for innocent purposes. But when that bird flu was threatening to explode in the US it was disclosed the aerial mapping is exacting enough they can even tell if people have one chicken coop in their backyard. They fly over and take the photos unannounced and by doing so, they know pretty well, how many cattle, sheep, deer, etc are on peoples’ property, and where the wildlife is. I have had farmers tell me the USDA is now demanding from farmers every six months the number of livestock on their property. All of this is, I have been told, so they know just where to swoop in and confiscate food or animals if they decide they need it more than the farmers and ranchers do.
This is also why there is a “shortage” of coins. They want to get rid of cash so they will have a paper trail on everything everyone buys. It is all about control.

Your posts are just a wealth of information, Jacqueline! Thank you for all the research you put into this post. I especially appreciate the Bible verses at the end where you are drawing our hearts back to the Lord. As my family and I prep this summer like we have never prepped before, I am reminded not to worry about tomorrow (Matt. 6:25-24) but entrust myself and my family to the One who sustains and provides. God bless you . . . and please keep these types of posts coming! 🙂

Thank you, Heather! Yes…without those stabilizing verses, this post would have been nothing but stirring up fear! I hope it doesn’t cause anyone to panic, so I am praying (and NEVER underestimating what God can do) for those who are unable to prepare as much as they’d like!

This is a very good and a thought provoking article. And I agree that we are in uncharted times as the world faces many challenges you have brought forward. I’m perplexed, however, that chronologically- Christians are struggling with the mark of the beast being a possible upcoming vaccine. For the mark to be present and required worldwide, there must be present the Antichrist. And for the Antichrist to be present, Christians will have been taken from the face of the earth-it’s all in the book of Revelation. Not to say it will not get crazy before His second coming to take His children home…I certainly believe we should live with wisdom – and I for one, do not take flu vaccines. We certainly are living in uncertain times,…the stage is being set, and we are not far from home. Thank you for keeping us in formed – that we can make wise decisions while trudging through the world’s confusion. ❤️

Hi, Paulette! Yes, we are not yet at the Mark of the Beast (timewise), but these early ones (made more acceptable bc the fear is so high) are leading up to and meant to desensitize us to what is surely coming. I did link to Dr. David Jeremiah’s prophesy page which goes into much greater explanation of it and the full timeline! Either way, we will not take an early vaccine(s).
I look for the return of the Lord sooner than later! “Watch and pray:!

I have not ever accepted pre-written content, first of all, bc I have a long waiting list of content, but also bc I want to really know the person’s content I’m sharing and their heart and where they are coming from – and if they totally align with what I feel the Lord is prompting me to write, have a site that I feel good about sharing with my readers, etc.
Thank you for thinking of me, though!

I appreciate you so very much. Our family has been very prayerful as to what to do in the upcoming months. Move to be closer to family…stay in the city. If near family…still no acreage, but very rural place. Collect food…how much food? I have never done this before so it is overwhelming. I know you said to get quality seeds. How do you know what is quality and how much do you get? Do they last? How much food do you think we should prepare for?

I have never gardened on my own. Grew up on a small family farm, but I was shown what to plant and what to weed. I have never done it on my own.

We don’t feel like the Spirit has guided us in any specific direction yet, but perhaps I haven’t been prayerful enough. You seem very connected to the Spirit. I am interested in your thoughts if you have time!

      Thanks so so much!

This article was so helpful and spurred me on! – I also really appreciated your post about foods that didn’t spoil! All throughout the year, starting in January, we freeze little bits of fruit and veggies at a time, as our family already eats a lot of produce; even if the power goes out, we still have a generator to keep the food cool, although it’s not the optimal choice . . . the Lord has taught me over the years that it’s all about preparation and starting early! I’ve also started to think about and look into a personal home-use food freeze drier! Jill at the Prairie Homestead has a great post about this, how freeze dried food is actually more nutritious than canned! Your post about coconut oil prompted me to buy a case of organic canned coconut milk from Azure just now! :). I’m so grateful we serve a good God who cares for us but has also made us for love and good deeds! Thankful for you! 🙂

Your blog has been such a blessing. In December we moved from Kentucky to Pennsylvania to be near my dad and sister for support. Unfortunately on our one low income we could only afford a duplex in town and we have four children ages 16, 11, 8 and almost 2. We get Medicaid and food stamps and really wish we were more self sufficient financially but that would require my working outside the home and I have always been a homeschool mama. So what does someone like us do? We can stock up on food but I feel like our location prevents us from being very self sufficient or safe should civil unrest creep here. I need to be in prayer more but admit I get easily overwhelmed. If you have any tips for me I am ALL ears. We barely have a yard but I do have a small garden in what we do have. No chickens allowed where we live either. Ugh. Anyway prayers for us please and any tips n advice 🙂 Thank you!

        Hi, Bekah Joy!
I am so sorry to be so slow. My main computer got hacked last Friday and I’ve been trying to get the damage corrected ever since.
Thank you for your encouragement. I hear you about what to do! I’m just seeking the Lord so much right now!
It is so hard bc many of us depend on others for so much. I am thankful, though, that you are able to be home as a mom and homemaker! Our children do need their momma at home!
Have you ever canned? You can buy veggies and fruit and can and freeze them and put up some food. Find them at farmers markets (the prices are low as they are in season). You kiddos can help you and make it a project. Other than that, I would stock up on canned beans (or dried beans) and dry rice as served together they are a complete protein source!

I hope that helps some! Also, you can plant a fall (cool weather garden) with these greens… include beets! https://deeprootsathome.com/the-delightful-fall-veggie-garden/
I am praying for you, Bekah! The Lord will lead you as you seek Him!!

In November 2019, I decided that I would cancel anything that would require me to go out for the next 6 months. I thought my intuition was telling me there would be a lot of snow and bad weather. Guess what, there was not much snow or bad weather, but there was a pandemic and a lockdown. For the past month I have had the urge to store up dehydrated foods. I found many veggie powders, kale, cilantro etc. I am also in the process of making my own medicinal tinctures, powders, etc. I have been helping my neighbors with the end of the season garden storage, dehydrating, powdering, tincturing and so on. I don’t have space for a garden, In return they stock my cupboards. I fell like a squirrel storing nuts for and intense season. I don’t know what it will be, but I feel as if there may be something challenging down the road. My friends and I are all lucky, even my friends into their 70s and 8os. We have strong immune systems and use natural remedies and eat healthy food. Please keep up your good work. I found your site by accident, although it really wasn’t an accident. Bid Smile.

I agree. So much of the actions and technology being implemented now seems to line up with Revelation. Also, when I read Revelation, there is no mention of anything that seems to line up with the USA (unless we are Babylon which is worse than not being mentioned). I have thought for a while that the US will have to either cease to exist or break up or become so unimportant that we have no influence on the world before the end times. When you see what is happening in America along with the move towards a global government and the end of all liberties, it really looks like the end times are almost here.

Preparing to be able to provide basic needs (food, clothing, & shelter) for our families and our friends will help us to weather the storm and enable us to stand firm. This should also encourage us to share the Gospel. I’ve read what happens to those who refuse Jesus and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy, much less my unsaved friends and family.

I pray for the US to return to faith, but I am preparing for the more likely outcome which is the wrath of God on an evil nation.
