First off, don’t let this cause you to rush out and get the shingles vaccine! I believe it actually caused my case and you’ll see why.
Prior to the 1990s, natural chickenpox was a nearly universal childhood experience and played out as a mild disease that conferred long-term immunity.
In 1995, without any compelling medical reason to do so, the CDC added the chickenpox vaccine to the childhood vaccine schedule for 12-15-month-olds. In 2006, acknowledging the problem of waning vaccine effectiveness, it indicated that 4-6-year-old children needed to get a second (booster) shot. (source)
Those authors cautioned that mass chickenpox vaccination was likely to cause a shingles epidemic. They also predicted that shingles would affect “more than 50% of those aged 10-44 years at introduction of vaccination.”
Big Tip: let your children (and grandchildren) get natural chicken pox and care for them to get your “booster” if you had them as a child! If not, I will show you below how to take a natural preventative vaccination with something called a NOSODE!
Warning: you may want to scroll right on past these pictures:
In the 50s, my mom took my siblings and me to a real “chicken pox party” at the Katt’s house when we were all young! Everyone we knew at school had done it, and there was a wonderful natural immunity to all ages in the community! Btw, it was unheard of for older people to get shingles.
Contracting the virus as a child is the most opportune time to lay the foundations of robust health and immunity.
Like my Mom, I took our children to a chicken pox party. I was already 44/45 and that little exposure ‘boosted’ my natural immunity — but that was 26 years ago. Now nearing 70, my natural immunity had waned.
How Do We Get Shingles?
ONE WAY: From someone shedding a recent Zostavax (shingles) vaccine. This is my suspected source… 🙁 Zostavax is a LIVE virus, it sheds to other unsuspecting persons!
SECOND WAY: Stress depresses our immune system and is a big risk factor for shingles.
My own normally strong immune system suffered by worrying and fretting over the multitude of concerns in our country! I failed to give over my anxieties to the Lord and internalized them. We can’t sustain that and were not meant to!
THIRD WAY: Waning immunity. The problem with eradicating chicken pox through unnatural means is no one gets re-exposed so we end up getting shingles in later years. I have corresponded with many dozens of recent shingles sufferers, some repeatedly, so no doubt, we are in a shingles epidemic.
Don’t Be UN-Prepared Like I Was!!!
Our wonderful naturopath always uses homeopathics, but the ‘expedited’ shipment didn’t arrive until late day 4!
The shingles came on SO fast and mean, I became fearful and started anti-viral Valtrex late on day 3. The fast results I was promised instead left me nauseous and the eruptions on my face got vastly worse. I know now that starting Valtrek blocked the efficacy of the homeopathics:
“Often, homeopathy can work in spite of allopathic drugs, but NOT SO WELL when it comes to Shingles. It is my experience that if drugs are begun, homeopathy’s ability to clear the case is hampered. If someone has Shingles and they start taking conventional drugs prescribed for it, then realize said drugs are not helping enough so they switch to homeopathic medicines, homeopathy does not work as well. It takes a lot longer. It may offer some help, but not with the same alacrity and thoroughness as when only homeopathy has been applied.” ~Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH
With homeopathy, the body receives the needed support and impetus for uprooting the illness. With pharmaceuticals, symptoms are suppressing which only pushes the illness deeper and creates imbalances that wreak havoc in the body later in life.
6 foods to avoid with shingles: dark chocolate, alcohol and caffeine, processed foods, gelatin, soy, and grains!
Unfortunately, it is possible to get shingles twice (or more). Women are at a higher risk of developing it a second time than men are. The longer you experience severe pain after shingles (called post-herpetic neuralgia), the higher your chances of a shingles recurrence. (source)
Be Prepared w/ a Nosode: a Natural Vaccine that works with your body
I had to learn a hard lesson on preparedness. Too late for me, but hopefully not for others reading this.
Now I have an effective, inexpensive shingles nosode on hand (essentially what my naturopath prescribed)! No prescription needed.
The shingles nosode provides homeopathic aid in support of 1. preventative resistance and 2. recovery from Varicella Zoster virus. Nosodes are taken orally whereas toxic big pharma vaccines are injected.
There are 2 effective ways to use it:
- Have the shingles nosode on hand to treat immediately should you get an acute case of shingles (read more here) OR
- Take the shingles nosode as a natural shingles (preventative) vaccine (read more here for suggested usage) Note: 10 drops of the nosode once a month is sufficient – I don’t think once/week is a good recommendation: taken too often, when your body doesn’t need, it could actually create those symptoms.
A shingles nosode is an allopathic vaccination, without the thiomersal, aluminum hydroxide, MSG, gelatins, etc. found in immunizations. Nosodes have been used throughout homeopathy’s history and are recognized in all homeopathic pharmacopoeias throughout the world. (source)
When a nosode is given, the body recognizes the cellular structure and disease imprint, producing an immune response similar to actual exposure to the disease itself.
For Scar Prevention & Nerve Pain
Topical skin healing: alternate Skin Defense Spray and Calendula Cream. Leave scabs alone as long as possible to prevent scarring. Lysine in the nosode helps skin/scars heal in the acute case.
Lastly, have several vials of homeopathic remedy hypericum perforatum 200C for nerve pain! Take 3 pellets every hour when the pain is extreme + stop when relieved; 2-3x/d when manageable.
Supports: I upped my regular TRS usage to 10-15 sprays 2x/d along with Vit C, zinc, turmeric, and cod liver oil to calm my brain.

Thank you for this, Jackie! In early Dec 2019, what I thought was a poison ivy outbreak above my right eyebrow (a tiny, itchy bubble/pimple that I was very familiar with) turned out to be shingles. I noticed it was spreading and since it was close to my eye, I decided to go to theminute clinic nearest to us, as it was a Sunday. Dr. diagnosed it and gave me a scropt for it. It was caught very, very early and I experienced no pain whatsoever, which I know is a mercy. Only had one small scab to deal with. But I also used Manuka honey on it as well as took the tincture Virex, given to me by my chiropractor, who also uses naturopathic practices to enhance his patients’ immune systems.

Jacqueline—Thank you for sharing. Shingles is not fun. I had a mild case in the left side of the small my back almost 2 years ago. The rash was resembled bug bites and itched. I didn’t realize it until a month latter when the sensory nerves were affected. About a month after that the motor nerves of the descending and sigmoid colon were affected. Once I realized what it was I started an antiviral regime. I listen to radio program b naturopaths Saturday mornings.
It will be two years this coming summer. My digestive system has finally calmed down. I was the one that figured out that it was shingles. I was trained as an OT. Before I figured it out I talked or tried to talk to my doctor-who I have not had any problems with in the past-about the digestive issues I was having. Her response was are you going to get the shingles shot and make an appointment for our colonoscopy. After that encounter I started thinking -what is are affected by the nerves in the area of the shingles—bingo! I learned to manage my symptoms to make myself more comfortable, but it is not a journey I want to revisit. When I finally had my colonoscopy I had opportunity to talk to the doctor he agreed it was probably the shingles.
I have thought of you often after hearing about your having shingles. Thankful that you are recovering. It is such a slow process.
Michelle
Jacqueline- I am so thankful you shared your experience. I am still confused on how shingles comes about, but I want to be fully informed and prepared seeing the trauma your body indured because of it..
I had chicken pox as a child- am I then still susceptible to getting shingles later in life??
Also, how long do I have to expose my children(we don’t vaccinate) to chicken pox (ie:chicken pox party)- I’m speaking age wise.
They are presently teens. Meaning is there a age where it’s to late to contract the pox virus, and is our only step is to be prepared for possibly future shingles??
Thank you for any info you can offer. Shingles makes me so nervous and I want to have a better understanding…
I DO appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge.
May God bless you during this time..
Jacqueline
Michelle, your children are too old for a chicken pox party and would most likely have a rougher case of ch px. The best way for you and them is to get a bottle of the shingles nosode in the post over a period of months. The shingles nosode is a natural shingles (preventative) vaccine. In the post it gives a link to the site with directions for use… easy and very effective with no toxic adjuvants! You most likely will never get shingles. And do another bottle in 15 years and it will bump up your titres and give you long years of resistance.
I hope that helps!! ~Jacqueline
Georgina
I am 64 years old. I had a mild case of shingles about 3 years ago. I am kind of confused since some comments indicate that people get recurring cases later. Will the nosode help prevent another shingles case? Thank you for sharing and for trying to educate us!
Jacqueline
Hi, Georgina! The shingles nosode should prevent another case. This is the professional recommendation: “Preventative: Dosages vary based on the specific nosode formula and the protection desired. Generally, to aid with occasional symptoms or to assist in preventing a tendency toward the condition, take 10-15 drops once weekly or monthly as needed.”
I would use at least half the bottle over an extended period of time to gain real homeoprophylaxis.
You can read more about if you are exposed, have an Acute case, or a Chronic case here (see suggested usage): https://www.professionalsupplementcenter.com/Shingles-Nosode-Drops-by-Professional-Complementary-Health-Formulas.htm
I am of the opinion now that using the shingles nosode will build resistance in anyone who has a relatively healthy immune system! I am dosing my husband as he had not been exposed to chicken pox for as long as me, so with his exposure to me, the nosode is a sure preventative (like a vaccine w/o the junk!) 10 drops every week under the tongue at least 20 or more minutes after a meal (in other words away from food and drink other than water).
I hope this helps!
Blessings, Jacque

Thank you for sharing your experience and such helpful information. I had chicken pox as a child. I’ve had shingles three times as an adult, about ten years apart each time. Last time was about three years ago. It was so painful that when it was over I went and got the Shringrix shot(first of two). I got really sick with flu like symptoms for a week afterwards, along with huge red, swollen painful bump and heat at the injection site. So I didn’t go back for the second “required” shot. I’m wondering with this history, if I’d experience feeling sick if I now ordered and took the shingles nosode now as a preventative? I’d really like to take a homeopathic treatment/preventative for shingles now, since it is such a painful thing to go through.
Jacqueline
Hi, Virginia!
I doubt that you would experience any kind of side effect with any homeopathic remedy. They are so gentle and the real work done in the body is energetic work. There are obviously no toxic adjuvants/metals to drop or quash the immune system.
This is the professional recommendation: “Preventative: Dosages vary based on the specific nosode formula and the protection desired. Generally, to aid with occasional symptoms or to assist in preventing a tendency toward the condition, take 10-15 drops once weekly or monthly as needed.” I would use at least half the bottle over an extended period of time to gain real homeoprophylaxis.

So sorry to hear that you’ve had Shingles, Jacqueline. I’ve talked to people that have this and said it was one of the most painful illnesses they ever had.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us.
You are such a blessing to so many.
Jacqueline
Thank you, Linda!
I wonder if the Lord doesn’t “allow” me to go through some things as a way to teach me Much and then to be able to share it with others!
I accept it either way!
God bless you and thanks for that encouragement,
Jacque
Norma
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and also your recommendations with us. I have a friend who was convinced that she needed the shingles vaccine, and when I told her your story awhile back, she totally changed her mind. I’ll also be sharing this with her and I plan to make sure to have the “helps” on hand that you used.
Jacqueline
Norma, thank you for sharing that! Your friend could read some of the comments bc they contain more information that would be helpful to her.
Thank you for your care and love for your friend. To God be the glory for His natural gifts and for giving man dominion to use knowledge wisely to heal!
Grace and peace,
Jacque

Hello!
What if I have already had chicken pox as a child and shingles as an adult. I had it 5 1/2 years ago when I was 40. Thought I had a bad case of poison Ivy. I actually found out at the doctor’s office that not only did I not have poison Ivy but I was told it was shingles and it was also there that I found out I was pregnant with my 4th! I left that office with my mind spinning.
Jacqueline
Hi, Jenn! Wow, I can imagine you were spinning! No fun!
To gain a further booster, you could use the nosode (use 10 drops under the tongue (away from food or drink other than water) every week or so. I would use at least half the bottle over an extended period of time to gain real homeoprophylaxis. Or you could just keep a bottle on hand so you’d have it immediately if you got another case. I like the preventative approach. I never want to go through that again!!
Blessings!

Hi so sorry you had to go through shingles. I’ve heard it is very painful. I was wondering, if I didn’t get chickenpox when I was a kid, does that mean I should get the vaccine? (Ugh) I’ve heard if you didn’t get when you were younger the virus isn’t in your body to be activated again by shingles. Is there any truth to this?
Jacqueline
Well, first of all, an adult may want to get a chickenpox vaccine if they never had one as a child – but not the allopathic one. The safest way to prevent it at this point is to take the shingles nosode. It IS a vaccine, but a natural one with the same viruses in it that the allopathic vaccine has – just not the toxic metals and adjuvants. If you have not had CP as a child, you could still get it.
The ingredients include the chicken pox virus varicella, so you should not ever get it.
Active Ingredients: Equal parts of Mezereum 3X, Rhus toxicodentdron 4X, Croton tiglium 6X, Echinacea angustiflora 6X, L-Lysine 6X, Natrum muriaticum 6X, 30X, Herpes simplex 200X, Herpes zoster 200X, Varicella 200X
Inactive Ingredients: 20% Ethanol, Purified Water
I hope that helps!
Blessings, Jacqueline

Do I have to go to a doctor for a prescription for this or can it be from a naturalpath or can I find it at a health food store? Thank you in advance.
Joanna
Thank you for this info.
I was told by an older lady that having chicken pox as a kid made you more prone to shingles, so I’m glad to hear that’s not the case. (She ended up getting the shingles vaccine, b/c she was so worried about getting it.)
I had chicken pox 2x as a child, and 5 of my 6 kids have had chk px, still waiting for the youngest to get it. 🙂
Jacqueline
No, it is that man is messing with what God set in place – as the article states: “In fact, this 2002 study confirmed that exposure to natural chickenpox in adults living with children “was highly protective against shingles.” Before and after introduction of the vaccine, researchers also warned of the vaccine’s potential to shift the average age of chickenpox infection upward—a problematic scenario given that chickenpox is more severe in adults—while shifting downward the average age at which shingles occurs.”
The sources for those statements are linked to in the post.
You could dose them with the shingles nosode to give them the same immunity (like a vaccine but one with NO toxic adjuvants or metals to quash their immune system).
Blessings,
Jacqueline

Do you have a recommendation or protocol for young adults that have not been vaccinated for chickenpox and have also not come in contact with a naturally?
Thanks!
Jacqueline
Yes, I do considering that now it is hard to find those who are getting cp naturally. You can check with your functional doctor or naturopath.
Since Chickenpox is caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), dosing with the shingles nosode (which contains VZV) would be a natural vaccine. See the section Suggested Usage and the directions for preventative use. This is called homeoprophylaxis. This is very insightful! https://realimmunity.org/about-hp/

WOW!! How timely this post is. For years I have had outbreaks of shingles about 5-6 times a year. I have been very Blessed to only have 1 or 2 at a time on my hip area. The pain before the break out is really bad. It actually starts in the arch of my left foot and travels a thin line to the hip area. Except for the last couple of times and it seems to start at my knee. My doctor gave me a prescription to have the shot. I can’t go long enough without an outbreak to tale the shot. I am so glad after reading this I never took it.
Also my neighbor is having a horrible outbreak now. They are on her face scalp, and eye. Her daughter mixed up something with essential oils and it eased the burning instantly.
So sorry for your issues with these. PRAY you are totally over them soon.
Jacqueline
Hi, dear Charlotte!!! It is so wonderful to hear from you, sweet friend!
I am so sorry that you have had to deal with that.. the persistence of it and esp. the pain!
Since you have this scourge repeatedly one after the other, I would dose for the acute/subacute phase. Same for your friend – same as I am doing.
The nosode contains lysine which helps heal the scars, so I dab a drop or 2 onto the blisters topically.
You can read the exact wording here in the suggested use section:
https://www.professionalsupplementcenter.com/Shingles-Nosode-Drops-by-Professional-Complementary-Health-Formulas.htm
Know that by doing that, you are also gaining a “safe” vaccine which should prevent more.
That is 10 drops 3x/day in your mouth under tongue away from food or drink, except water, at least 20 min. before or after eating.
It may seem to kick it up for several days, but that is normal and part of the powerful healing crisis as the immune system rebounds. You will soon see the shingles and pain resolving.
I am praying for your friend and for you now, Charlotte!
God bless you as you stand firm in your faith!
Love,
Jacqueline

This finally explains why my youngest brother got shingles when he was in his late 30s or early 40s. I imagine that would have been around the time his daughter got her chicken pox vaccination. He is the only family member that has had it, although I know of several friends who have had it. He had it on one side of the trunk of his body, and it lasted a pretty good amount of time.
I have had friends who have tried to convince me to get the shingles vaccine, and I have refused. When I was a kid, everyone got chicken pox, we didn’t even need to go to a chicken pox party, it would sweep through the school, and if you didn’t get it one year you would get it another. It basically meant a few days at home, which no one complained about except maybe some mothers. I don’t remember anyone having serious problems with it or dying from it.
Glad you are doing better.
Jacqueline
Yeah, Gena, we oldies but goodies remember the days when it was so easy to get exposed to CP and the cases were mild – giving nearly lifelong immunity! And shingles was very uncommon!
I am so glad you shared that here, friend!
Love you,
Jacque
Ruth
Hello,
Thank you for this article. I believe I had shingles 10 years ago. I had burning pain on the skin of one side of my back, but no rash. My doctor looked at it, saw nothing, and it wasn’t treated. I’ve been suffering with nerve pain in that area since then, to the point that I can’t wear a bra without a great deal of discomfort. I had the shingles vaccine three years ago. Now, I have a tingling sensation that keeps happening on my head, for the most part always in the same spot. It comes and goes very quickly. I’ve suggested to my doctor (this is a different doctor than I had 10 years ago) that perhaps I have shingles without a rash again, but my routine bloodwork came back showing mild anemia, so she wants to deal with that first. I’ve asked her several times if there’s a way to confirm whether I have shingles or not, as I don’t want to let it go untreated again, and potentially experience more nerve damage. I really don’t know if I have shingles. There is no burning pain this time. I have no experience with homeopathic remedies. When I look on the website for the shingles nosode, I see doses for a confirmed shingles diagnosis, for exposure, and as a preventive. I really don’t know where I fall, so I’m a little apprehensive about making my own diagnosis and proceeding with the nosode. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you!
Jacqueline
Hi, Ruth!
I’ve read your comment twice and think (since you don’t know that it is shingles) you would take the nosode as a preventative.
Your use of the nosode would validate if it was shingles (w/o the rash) if it goes away and never returns.
Take 10 drops under the tongue only once a month until the symptoms fully stop and then no more. You can always resume if they return.
I hope this helps!
Blessings,
Jacque
