This isn’t just an average year for wildfires: Canadian wildfires have burned more acreage so far this year (~10 million acres) than you would see in an entire year. Wildfire smoke can rise more than 10 miles in the air and be carried hundreds of miles by wind currents. Over 100 million people are thought to be at risk for health issues from inhalation of pollutants.
The smoke has the potential to adversely affect even healthy persons. This is ongoing and will not be ending anytime soon and the fires remain uncontrolledly as of June 28.
But, do not fear! If you know how to be prepared, you can prevent harming your lungs and getting sick.

I often listen to homeopathic instructor Joette Calabrese as I’m studying homeopathy in my spare time. She just aired a very helpful 30 minute video on the homeopathic remedies to use just for this kind of event should your family be in the areas affected.
You can get right to it from 4:30 minutes on. I will outline below for you.
The 8 selected medicines Joette discusses are taken from Robin Murphy’s Meta Repertory and relate specifically to ‘being made sick from smoke inhalation.’
Please listen to the video for nuance and context on these remedies:
6:45 – Natrum muriaticum 6x (#9 cell salt) can be used preventatively.
8:00 – Carbo Vegetabilis 30c for air hunger (not enough oxygen), breathlessness, petrochemical pollution every 15 minutes for the first hour, then every 3 hours. For acute symptoms of emphysema (or serious respiratory symptoms that correlate), use Carbo veg 200c more frequently, as needed, and then taper off with improvement.
11:15 – Arsenicum album 6c is specific for burning in the nose, throat, or eyes.
13:00 – Euphrasia 30c – any eye irritation, swelling, burning, lacrimation (tearing of the eyes), allergic reaction in the eyes or sensitivity from smoke, euphrasia is specific for that.
14:25 – Arnica montana 30c for humans and animals being exposed to toxins and for injuries where you feel beaten up (pain or achiness in chest).
16:30 – Natrum arsenicum 200 for someone super sensitive to smoke (someone who can’t be around bonfires) and very dry or red eyes – used when nothing else is working.
20:00 – Bryonia 30c for the respiratory tract and lungs in general. A heaviness in the chest, trachea, pain the sternum or R shoulder. Where one is obliged to sit up to cough. Also for headache assoc. with smoke inhalation.
23:45 – Spongia 200c where there is a barking cough or croup (the sound of a ‘seal barking’) from deep in the chest (with anxiety).
When taking homeopathics:
Don’t touch the pellets; just tap the 3-4 pellets into the cap and toss them into a ‘clean mouth’ away from food or drink for 15 minutes either side. Suck or chew them and don’t just swallow them.
What’s In Wildfire Smoke?
The Scripps Institution of Oceanography did a study in 2021 that found wildfire smoke is up to 10 times more harmful to humans than other types of pollution, like car exhaust, because of the abundance of PM2.5 particles.
The American Lung Association categorizes wildfire smoke as a mixture of pollutants, including carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas has been shown to reduce oxygen delivery to the body’s organs. Also particulate matter, like PM2.5 in smoke (ultrafine particles of toxic gases including lead and other metals) is tiny and has no trouble reaching the deepest parts of your lungs when inhaled, including the alveoli that absorb oxygen and enter the bloodstream. (source)
It’s believed that the current exposure to wildfire smoke is equivalent to smoking 3-11 cigarettes a day, depending on where you are.
What are Signs & Symptoms To Watch For?
Minor symptoms of exposure to toxic smoke include eye irritation, headache, fatigue, cough, sore throat, and sinus congestion. Effects on the lungs and heart are much more concerning.
The Environmental Protection Agency said these pollutants cause lung complications, like:
◾ Bronchitis, increased congestion and phlegm
◾ Reducing lung function, difficulty breathing, dizziness
◾ Exacerbating asthma attacks, coughing, sneezing
◾ Worsening lung diseases, decreased oxygen levels, chest pain
In those exerting themselves physically, poor air quality also may cause heart attacks, congestive heart failure, and strokes.
8 Tips To Protect Against Wildfire Smoke
1. Keep an eye on the US Air Quality Index map and health warnings relating to smoke. If severe, leave the area till it is safer to return.
2. If you’re told to stay inside, keep doors and windows shut. In hot weather, run the air conditioner, but CLOSE the fresh-air intake and check to see if filters need changing. Turn on an air purifier that is equipped with a HEPA filter which removes fine particles from the air. We own the Molekule air cleaner.
3. We use this cellular detox as maintenance for all the constant pollution. These days, hundreds of thousands are detoxing with a nano-zeolite called Advanced TRS. These stories from real people highlight how life-giving and life-changing detoxing with TRS can be, especially for 6-12 months.
4. Nebulize glutathione. Directions and a short video for nebulizing glutathione are in this post.
5. Eat broccoli sprouts which produce detoxifying sulphurophane. Known to detoxify Dioxin. (A real-food, nutrient-dense diet and healthy gut lining is our best defense against ill effects from environmental toxins.)
6. Mullein herb, an effective cough and congestion buster helping us expectorate particulate before it settles in the mucous membranes.
7. Standard surgical masks are not sufficient. Use a N95 mask or higher if you must go out. (Otherwise, masking is a bad idea. See why here and here.)
8. Certain house plants purify the air. I feel they just make your home happier, too!
And what do I think is CAUSING these Canadian fires?
If nothing else, watch the first 1 minute where former U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson admits that the government is changing the climate by controlling the weather and the clouds. Learn of the document on ‘Forest Fire As A Military Weapon’. I suspect this has been part of plans for a long time.
Forest Fire As A Military Weapon
The 1970 “secret” document, Forest Fire As A Military Weapon, is a report on military weaponry which discusses the “science” of optimal burning, including methods such as aerial spraying, use of chemicals, ideal weather conditions to start fires, examples of potential target locations worldwide, the best time of year to apply desiccation treatments and the best month to burn.
Montana, Texas, Florida, California, Idaho, and other states/nations permit cloud seeding, which involves the release of silver iodide, a combustible agent, and other hazardous pollutants. Rhode Island is the first state to introduce legislation that would prohibit harmful atmospheric activities such as cloud seeding and weather modification.
