I’m a nurse. I’ve been one for 48 years. It wasn’t until 30 years ago that I started questioning the information that was given patients.
Nursing is one of the most trusted professions in America, and those of us who speak out against the following current medical practices are looking out for your best interests.
Someone help me out…
Why don’t doctors tell you to give your child magnesium or lemon water instead of MiraLAX (which isn’t for children under 17 and can cause neuropsychiatric problems)?
Why don’t doctors hand out info on dietary changes and give you the alkaline water recipe when you have heartburn and indigestion instead of giving you Prilosec (which causes ‘acid rebound’, drug dependence, osteoporosis, and magnesium deficiency)?
Why are BLACK BOX antibiotics like Cipro and Levaquin (nearly every generic ending in “quin”) still prescribed routinely for sinus and bladder infections when there are alternatives? (which can cause tendon rupture, acute liver damage, serious nervous system damage/neurotoxicity AFTER JUST ONE DOSE).
Why don’t doctors today give you a list of the top cancer-preventative foods to eat so that you’re less likely to have a future cancer diagnosis?
Why don’t doctors tell you about herbs and spices that can also handle inflammation, infections and colds and flu (like turmeric or usnea or fermented garlic in raw honey).
Why don’t doctors inform about the Black Box Warning for Synthroid (Levothyroxine) for hypothyroidism? Synthroid use leads to development of dementia but is still the number one brand-name drug in terms of number of prescriptions written by physicians. (while natural desiccated thyroid has been safely used for more than 100 years).
Why don’t doctors tell you to lower/remove toxic chemicals in your home when you have constant headaches and allergies? (manmade fragrances and chemicals cause toxic buildup in humans that make us sick).
Why aren’t you informed by your doctor that if you eat half a grapefruit every day, it will regulate your cholesterol and B/P naturally, and you likely won’t need statin meds? (this is why patients are told not to eat it while on statins). Pomegranate juice does also.
Sadly, many pediatricians insist your baby get this early childhood vaccine that the CDC clearly states, “About 3,400 babies in the United States die suddenly and unexpectedly each year.” Either they aren’t aware or are in it for the serious monetary kickbacks. (to which Japan and Sweden said “NO!”)
Why don’t doctors tell you about inexpensive preventative supplements like N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) when you have respiratory trouble (instead of waiting for you to have to go to the hospital?)
Why aren’t pregnant women given all the facts about off-label use of Pitocin? (which forces your body to expel a baby and more than doubles the risk of emergency Caesarean, compared with natural (unforced) labor. It’s definitely time to stop blindly trusting and seriously research everything!).
Why isn’t your doctor suggesting that you take a probiotic daily? (a healthy microbiome controls bad bacteria, repairs gut lining, helps absorption, and makes vitamins).
Why don’t doctors teach you that unhealthy emotions stored in your physical body can cause mental anguish? Instead they quickly prescribe psychiatric meds. (Emotions and stress play a very significant role in our total health. Without tools to help navigate our emotions we can easily become physically ill.)
Why do they set up these protocols of pills that most of them wouldn’t even take themselves?
Why isn’t more time given to preventative health care?
Why do many cram in 40 or more patients a day instead of 20?
This needs to change. Information is key. Healing is real and possible!
We just aren’t getting the right information!!
Of course, there are many doctors whose prime concern is their patients and give life-saving information.
I encourage you to “think out of the box”. Can we/you AFFORD not to seek the best care?

The sad thing is that doctors aren’t taught any of that. They don’t know anything about truly good nutrition or supplements. Even though most are well meaning, they are parroting what they’ve been taught in medical schools sponsored by big pharma. Another sad thing is that most of us can’t afford to find a functional doctor since they usually don’t take insurance. Patients have to educate themselves.
Jacqueline
Abbie, Yes, we do have to educate ourselves… that is one of the main reasons I write.
I had to learn so much the hard way, and now I can share some of it here!
Sending peace,
Jacque

Abbie,
I completely understand ,it is a “rock a hard place”, to say the least!! Practice of medicine is a hot button for me! I have several friend who are Dr. in the US, trained in American universities. They have told me they are never presented with nutrition info, but that’s not say it’s inaccessible. The Dr.s who are in it for the right reasons, educate themselves. My good friend, Dr. Zach Bush, used tell me, that he learns so much FROM HIS PATIENTS, all medical school did was teach him about drugs!! He left a very solid position at UVA Hospital, to start his own practice, so he could practice in a “think out of the box” way. Find those kind of Dr.s. When my husband and got married started or family, having been a lawyer, seeing the fraud, malfeasance in insurance , and, because they would only cover certain forms modalities of medicine, we never had insurance. Nearly 40 yrs, 7 children later….. we home-birthed, just paid the mid wife over time. When major medical costs were incurred, the Dr.s/institutions, all got in line. 🙂 Self pay is typically 40% cheaper too! I don’t know of 1 great physician who wouldn’t accept you as a patient because of inability to pay upfront costs. But we must educate ourselves, how the body works, and what keeps it in tip top shape, and what heals the body when it get out of kilter . So I encourage you to “think out of the box”. Can we/you AFFORD not to seek the best care?

Early on I learned to take personal responsibility for my health and my children’s. Did I always get it right, no, but I owned it. By taking what is presented, without researching for confirmation, you are nothing more that a sheep at the trough. Curiosity has died a quiet death, by laying down at our doctors feet, our elected officials, etc.” Question everything” is not just slogan from the 60’s in rebellion against “the man”, personal knowledge/understanding, thereby making informed choices, is our duty. You never have true freedom without personal responsibility.
Jacqueline
Barb, you are a powerful writer! Thank you for always adding vaulable information or perspective!
Hugs to you,

Dear Mariana,
I appreciate your thinking of Deep Root at Home, but I am so full up with content, and so out of time due to 4 new grandbabies under 23 months to even look into all the offers, I am going to have to decline.
Thank you for your kindness!
Sending peace,

Hi Jacqueline. What are your thoughts on prebiotics? My homeopathic doctor prefers them over probiotics. Just curious to your thoughts. Thank you
Jacqueline
Hi, Sue,
I wonder why she prefers one over the other. Both togehter are helpful and important, esp. if one already has a damaged microbiome, as most of us do bc of glyphosate and the plethora of other damaging influences that can quickly devastate out guts.
Just make sure that the food you eat (the probiotics) are truly organic, and as fresh as possible, and grown in microbe rich soils. Also very important, as Barb said, are a variety of fermented foods: https://deeprootsathome.com/?s=sauerkraut
Sadly, there is a profit-driven move to slowly make us reliant on premade processed foods, genetically-altered foods, pills, and gradually lessen the availablility of truly nutritive foods.

Sue,
The long and short of pre/pro biotics is simple. RAW sauerkraut , even 1-2 tablespoons a day will affect the microbiome to bring it to homeostasis. There are around 114 species of pro/pre biotics in RAW sauerkraut, you’ll never get that in any bottles of probiotics. Not to mention the enzymes, beneficial fungi, anti viral benefits!! So if you did just this one thing, over time you would realize the benefits in spades.Dietary behaviors could make or break you in the desire to reach optimal levels. Gluten and sugar are not our friend. They feed the nasties like Candida albicans, which is a real opportunists. When the good bacteria is minimal the bad guys multiply. RAW sauerkraut is a great choice for getting your gut happy and healthy!
Sue
Thank you Jacque & Barb!! Can Raw Sauerkraut be bought at a grocery store? I know my gut microbiome needs help!!!
Barb Tocci

Hi Jackie wondering if you can shed some light on preventing or reversing osteoporosis and keeping or bones healthy and strong. I’m aware of the need for exercise, but so confused about diet and respect supplements in regard to safely caring for my bones and body… calcium citrate? K2, boron, strontium , etc … would really appreciate information and/or you pointing out some good resources to educate ourselves.
Jacqueline
Jj, I would use a homeopathic remedy called bone strengthener: https://www.elixirs.com/products.cfm?productcode=HH25A
It is a wonderful remedy and will do the trick. A dosing sheet comes with it to follow.
Sending peace,
Jacque
